jap import wrx wagon only running at 7psi
 

Hello, im new to subarus and recently fitted a boost gauge(96 jap import looks like facelift version), it reads 7psi on full boost, i purchased the car off a disabled man (its automatic), could the boost have been turned down, and how easy is it to turn it back up without blowing up my engine, any help would be appreciated cheers rick

Could be your vac pipe is melted or crimped, trust me it happens!

I've checked the pipes they seem o.k., do you know what the boost psi should be

You're only getting 0.5 bar boost which is normally limp home mode

I've reset the ecu and it came up with no problems, is their anything else i should check before booking it in with the mechanic, and does anyone know what an import wrx auto should be running at, thanks rick

0.75 bar i think (may be wrong though)

I had a wrx import on a 95 reg, it was running around 0.75 bar standard when i had it, my brother has it now, he has done a few slight mods and is running around 1 bar now.

Boost solenoid plumbing is wrong. Get even one pipe in the wrong place and it runs at actuator pressure which is usually around what you're seeing.
