Your best Value option IMHO

Yes you would as it will lean things out normally.

Panel filters are more than efficient for quite high levels.

cookstar 04 May 2007 04:30 PM

They do sound nice though :)

silverscoobydan 04 May 2007 05:06 PM

The standard air box with a decent panel filter is good for 350bhp. Induction kits are known to f up the maf (poor running and loss of power) and make the car run lean. Probably would not bother.

thnks for your advice. was what i thought but wanted another opinion

I too was pondering about an induction kit a while back but most people on here don't rate them.

As regards the filter,i've got an MY07 STi - would i benefit at all getting a different filter,if so which one ?

Claaarkio 04 May 2007 05:20 PM

A cone filter on my classic replacing my uprated panel filter made an extra 8bhp on the rollers.

Dave :)

Green Air Filter will do the job for you :thumb: - about £30

That's normally the case with a Classic but can cause more problems than gains on a newage

IIRC as said above panel filter OK to 360bhp;) the litchfield T25 is 415bhp and still uses the STD airbox

not quite std as they also have a cold air feed into to it from the front fog light surround.

pippyrips 04 May 2007 08:37 PM

i've fitted an rcm induction kit with enlarged inlet pipe to my 04 STI. I also fitted a cold air feed and am in the process of fitting a heat shield.

I've had no problems and followed the same route and Bob Rawle did with his own car. Bob advised the mods and mapped the car - i thought if it was good enough for him....

Cheers,

Is that s direct replacement and is it better than a standard STi filter - any gains ?

dynamix 04 May 2007 10:44 PM

yep - direct fit (cut the lugs off the filter to make it easier though)

gains ... yes but difficult to quantify exactly how much. Prob 5bhp ish
