Well hello guys, Im finally back on the BBS following months in the gloom, away with work.

Looks like not a lot has changed in my absense, but Im just putting out my feelers.........Has anyone imported there own WRX from Japan. Ive heard of a few people doing it but just wondering if the costs involved are worth it. Im not in the situation to travel there to buy my own so I would be relying on a dealer to a certain extent.

Im sure there is somone about who has done this recently, so come on, furnish me with the the info ;o)

Thanks and Regards

Richie

RichieC, drop me a mail if you want more, but in short you've got two options: use an agent, such as Iain at Litchfield cars, or do it yourself and go direct to a garage in Holland.

I went direct to Autobedrijf Gertjan van der Velde (email:gj_velde@wish.net, or tel +31 186 661556) and could not recommend him highly enough! Brilliant service, excellent price, and hassle free. You need to collect the car, so that's an excuse for a few beers in Holland somewhere, and register it in the UK which costs 25 quid. Plus fit an alarm, and locking wheel nuts, and sort years 2+3 of the warranty if it bothers you.

Cheers, and good to see that you're back :D

Nick.

Lol !!

Good deals from Holland alsho I am hearing ??

To clarify though, Im looking for a cheap early WRX from Japan as opposed to a new 'un

Richie,

I imported my car from Holland last year so obviously I couldn't advise you on purchasing one from Japan, but I used a company called www.hifx.co.uk who will fix your rate of currency for a number of months. That way you can catch the Japanese Yen when the rate is higher than when you make the purchase on the car bearing in mind that there is usually a long waitng list.

I hope this is of use.

Chris
