Every now and again (but not often), when I floor my MY98 Turbo, there doesn't seem to be the same level of acceleration as usual. Sometimes this will happen, but it is then followed by normal, powerful acceleration.

This doesn't worry me too much (like I said, it rarely happens), but I was wondering if any of you guys had any insight into this strange occurance?

Kind regards,

Tony Lee, Reading.

That happened to my mates 98 turbo. I think it is something to do with the turbo cut off dump valve.....only an 1/2 hour fix at the dealer. Not sure how much, but it should'nt be too bad .

I stand corrected.....a boost solenoid valve was his problem.....I just gave out the wrong valve name .

I've heard the same. My mate had one done and it only took about 20 minutes. Although he did have an argument about getting it done under warrenty

Anyone know about prices if this is the case? My car's still under warranty, so I'll try getting it done for free first :-s

Also, could this problem be affecting the overall performance of my car, or is it likely to be just an intermitant problem?

Regards,

Tony.

Tony,

Not sure about cost. As for the performance thing, I imagine it would affect it a bit although only if your foot is right to the floor :)

Probably not related, but I am driving a courtesy 1.6 Astra at the moment (new mind you) whilst my 55k miles serviced 98 is having a replacement turbo (and piston now)under warrenty. I had a similar lack of power but also had a hesitation between 2500 and 3000 in the few weeks prior to its suddenly going. They got the turbo and fitted it yesterday but then said that one of the pistons has a problem too !! This is being done under wtee too but I will have to spend xmas and new year in a poxy Astra, great fun. C

colin, how did you get a courtesy car out of them?

tight buggers had mine in for a fortnight to fix the piston slap, left me wheel-less!

hated every minute of it,glad to get her back.
