My New Additions

Thought I would share with you all my hard work over the last week.

I have spent every evening after work, the whole week refurbishing the second hand Speedlines I got a couple of weeks back. Took my entire day off last Monday to rub them down and prep them for ready for painting. To be honest the pic does not do them justice, I am properly proud of myself for the job I have made of them.

gone from this,

to this,

Also Mid-week I received my shiney front and rear strut braces so of course they were fitted straight away, not too sure about the pink ends though

The rear one was a killer to fit, took alot of cursing and swearing to get it to fit LOL

Next on the shopping list are some lovely 4 pots

loverly job there fella. nice clean classic. i remember when it took me 14 hours to take all the back seat out all the trimmings etc to take out and install sound deadeding and some new speakers on the parcel shelf:lol1:

but nothing was broken, everything went back where it came from, and i felt really good when it was all said and done, finished and i had some nice alpine mids to listen too.

CupraDave 29 April 2007 09:10 PM

Thanks everyone, was a long week. was getting really impatient towards the end but managed to hold out and not get greedy when spraying to avoid runs.

Thanks for the offer bioforger but just won these with discs on ebay with the money I saved by refurbing my wheels myself

Got a feeling that 4 pots won't fit under the Speedline ST's/Chrono's that you've got.

Maybe wrong though:confused:

They'll fit behind you're 16" OEM's though

scooby1979 29 April 2007 11:21 PM

nice mods there mate

Dont say that Richie
Will be totally gutted if they wont fit under my works of art, really dont want to have to go back to my gold 16's, will have to wait and see I guess :(

I was looking at a set of these while getting my serviced the other day, the guy said they won't clear Subaru 4 pots.

CupraDave 30 April 2007 01:48 PM

NOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!

say its not so :(

EddScott 30 April 2007 02:07 PM

Those speedlines won't clear the caliper.

If you look at RB5 Speedlines the design was changed a bit to allow clearance.

You'll need spacers but don't know if these are off the shelf or will need to be made.

Good job though.

CupraDave 30 April 2007 02:38 PM

Thanks :cry::(:cry:

by spacers, do you mean shims or full on spacers?
how far would they need to come out?

I knew it was all going too smoothly, just my luck I would have such a major issue :(

EddScott 30 April 2007 03:49 PM

Don't know by how much but I know some on here have had the same issue.

Maybe worth an ask/search in Wheels & Suspension.

bioforger 30 April 2007 07:45 PM

Dam that's a bummer :/

Look on the +ve side. I know you put alot of work into them, but how about selling them on, and getting another set of even nicer 17" alloys? :)

Or simple option as said is spacers.

CupraDave 30 April 2007 07:49 PM

gonna see when the brakes arrive how far they would need to come out then make my decision. One thing is for sure, I aint parting with the brakes.

its just so disheartening after all the work I put into the wheels last week, they honestly look like they have been done professionally :(

StickyMicky 30 April 2007 07:53 PM

i like the standard 16" wheels better to be honest :)

and its true, them wheels will not clear the 4 pots :)

Cant change them back now, sold them not 20 mins ago

COLZO 30 April 2007 10:58 PM

I too prefered the Gold wheels, and I also think the Speedlines wont clear the brakes. Bit of a shame after all the hard work. Bummer. :brickwall

The pic really does not do the Speedlines justice. They look so much better in the metal, and everyone who has seen the car says the wheels look like they have been prfessionally done and almost look powdercoated cause of the finish I have managed to get on them.

Anyhoo will wait for the 4 pots to arrive this week and then see what the state of play is.
