maids for hire

anyone watch the witness special in al jazeera

aboot the sri lankan maids in lebanon

made me cry, i dont know if anyone watched it, for social life and pleasures somearab lebanese women r b1tches and so r the men who hire maids and pay them peanuts and lock them up and these poor girls fae sri lanka leave their counry and their kids tae earn a bit of money but its just modern day slavery and they get paid jack while the arab ladies can go and spend that much in a n hr on food but wont even bother paying extra tae the maids

basically these poor girs r the ones bringing up the lil kids for yrs and they basically become like mums so their real mums can go oot and have a hell of a time wae their girlie mates and social life etc etc and cant even bother dain housework or bringing up their children

and the sri lankan scum goverment rakes in mair money by sending these poor girls over tae other countries tae slave coz it brings mair money than rice and other exports and these scumbag recruiters

very sad and heartbreaking indeed, how they missed their lil kids back home etc and their families, man my heart just broke

poor folk r my weakspot i wish their woz justice in this world for these kind of people who get treated like scum

if u can watch the repeat this week

Moses my friend, would you be shocked to learn that you are in a minority of Al Jazeera viewers here on ScoobyNet (very few of us attend lectures at Finsbury Park mosque either...)?

AudiLover 29 April 2007 03:50 PM

moses please just type properly, so many people cant be bothered to try and decipher what your saying as the spellings are just unsociable. Im sure more people would have proper conversations with you that way.

He's not typing, he's using closed fists and just thumping the keyboard;)

This sort of thing is quite comon in this part of the world too:( There are usually two or three report a week in the Bangkok Post about it, usually some rich Singaporean or Malaysian woman has been convicted of beating/torturing/imprisoning her thai/lao/burmese maid:(

PS, welcome back Moses mate:)
It's nice to see you taking a short break from being banned;)

Dubai full of it, SL Women have to leave their own kids with freinds and family to go look after the kids of the 'rich' Arab and Wsterners there.

It appears that they are often treated worse by Arab women (generally) who have been known (reported in the local press and news) bully and abuse their maids also some reports of Arab men forcing themselves on them as well, this used to be hushed up but more ending up in the papers when i was there.

The pay was poor in comparison to western salaries but often a lot better than they would get in thier own country - assuming they could get work.

The problems lie when these poeple are not treated fairly, money docked for whatever reasons and abused by their employers.

The shame if it starts with these women having to leave their own kids, travel far away to look after someone elses children (who more than often only want a nanny or maid so they can spend more time on the golf course on in the club) in the first place.

However some maids/nannies are well treated, this does not make good exciting news does it.

Firstly, can you not learn to spell?

Secondly, having spent years living in many Middle Eastern countries I can tell you that it's very common for their household staff to be treated very poorly. Many arabs seem to have a total lack of respect for the people they employ. I remember my father nearly getting locked up for trying to help a guy that cleaned the office he worked in collect his pay which was 8 months overdue. The sad fact is if all the foreigners left these Arab countries they would grind to a halt because they don't have a clue how to do things themselves.

I think one of the problems is that Moses is hard to understand and what he writes can be interpreted in different ways.

I can see that he does himself no favours Paul, but to be fair its quite clear that there are no real references to racism contained within his native ramblings! and as such how can he be infracted for racist comments?

It seems like people already have a perception about his posts, and maybe that fault sits firmly at his door for previous 'rant' type posts, but again we should only judge on the actual content of his (or anyones) posts rather than their typical posting style.
