Tuning?

Need advice about tuning STI UK 2002. Want to tune to approx 330BHP.

Looking at the moment at TSL motorsport in Nottingham.

Anybody got any ideas?

I'm sure OMA in Mallusk would be able to assist you - responsible for a lot of quick scoobies in N.I.

AI Autosport is also a good place to look. I know most of their work is on Evos but Jonny knows his stuff. Couple of guys I know have had work done by him & its is among the best I have ever seen.

A full system and a remap should get your STI to that power easily Daz, dont know if you would need an uprated fuel pump and regulator as well:wonder:

I was at a rolling road day once at east coast customs and there was an STI there that had the TSL333 conversion but didnt have the power it should have had with it.

I would try East Coast Customs or OMA as Mark said above or Performance ubaru in coleraine, i know they did the ECUTEK remaps so you wouldnt have to change to a new ECU.

Your STI top mount intercooler will still be able to handle 330bhp easily

You could fit a catted down pipe from Scoobyworld (to keep it legal) and a centre section and remap. Would mean you would'nt have to keep changing your downpipe when it comes to MOT time.

Check out the exhausts on Scoobyworld as they are well made and at a great price, Link below:

Impreza Turbo 2001-2005 New Age:Impreza Turbo 2001-2005 New Age: Scoobyworld Afterburner Vortex [AFTERBURNERBB] - £279.99£249.99

If you wanted to go further you could get your headers ported, there is a guy on this site that does this, i will try to find out his name but i think it was Harvey. This should release some more power and keep the flat 4 note.

mate i have a sti myself and have had it tuned too 320 or so.the thing that does'nt help over here is we don't have any better than 97 ron fuel.if we had v-power 330 would have been no bother at all for my car.i did'nt want the car tuned with an octane booster as it's hard enough to sell these car's on without making a prospective buyer worried about fuel octane ron's.

all you need on the car is a prodrive cat and a decent backbox, fuel pump and a remap, thats it.that will give an honest 320+ bhp.
if your not going to be happy with that don't bother with cat's,go with a full 3" decat and a 18 or 20g turbo plus something like an aps inducton kit for around 350 bhp.
imho there's no need to spend loads of cash to get too 320 odd brake, the turbo thats fitted to your car and our 97 ron fuel is the limiting factor.

Never heard of Performance Subaru in Coleraine, but heard very good things about OMA.

certainly seem to do plenty of stuff. If I had known about them a few months ago I may have been even poorer than I am now! Sadly as my STI was sold yesterday I have no need for their services.

I dont think they do Mark, i have never seen or heard of a website for them

GAWLEY 30 April 2007 10:42 AM

Daz, check out this company WRC Technologies. They do various performance packages for your model of Impreza and also offer 0% finance and a warranty with it!!

The WRC 350 or 360 conversion should be right up your street:thumb:

Give Michael White (OMA) a call on 07973 830587 and have a chat with him, I don't believe he has a website at the moment.
Cheers

If your planning on going to england, API, Zen Performance etc, Andy F/Bow Rawle for a remap...

daz4065 01 May 2007 03:31 PM

many thanks lads. it is a bit of a minefield.

A trip to Andy Forrest might be the ticket. I can spend time getting the car modded and then mapped on the road. this should allow for real life driving conditions and a more fluid driving experience.

what about OMA? anyone used them?

dmc1980 02 May 2007 10:39 AM

i use them, they are currently tuning my 02 sti type uk. all my workj has been carried out by them and they are perfectionists when it comes to it. Can take a bit longer to get booked in, but this speaks for itself, they are busy!

daz4065 02 May 2007 12:44 PM

think i will have to give OMA a shout and see what they can do for me. no need to go to england or scotland if i can keep the local economy ticking.

many many thanks

dmc1980 your car looks awesome. what new work are you getting done?

I've had my car up to Michael 3 or 4 times now and I wouldn't go anywhere else, he knows the impreza inside out...and then some.

There's normally a row of scoobs. awaiting work, last time I was up there was a classic shape from Ballycastle, they are coming from all over the place therefore getting a slot can be difficult.....book 4 or 5 weeks in advance!

Very approachable and will be genuinely interested in your motor and what you want to do with it.

LIKE THE IDEA OF WARRANTY--- GIVES YA AAN EASE OF MIND--- ALTHOUGH ITS STILL OVER THE WATER

Be nice to know how many people on here have used them and to what feedback they have to offer.

There's no better reputation of a company than what the customers say about them.

Was out for a good hard run on a few favourite roads late last nite. Firm but fair would be the best way to describe the way i drive my car. However, it just needs that wee bit of something extra that means i don't have to push her to the rev limit.

A nice increase in torque would probably satisfy my driving style and stop me pushing my bug as much. In fact i would argue that it would be better for the car in the long run!!

Prob give the guys at OMA a buzz or take a run up and see what the craic is. Just got the motor serviced and had everything done. Except the rear struts.

Anyone have fresh rear struts for an 02 STI type UK? Subaru are way expensibe for something that will likely go in 30 000 miles. :thumb: :thumb:

OMA

where are these OMA guys located

maybe when ur going daz we cud get a few of us to tag along and go up with ya and make a bit of a mini cruise, wot ya think

dmc1980 04 May 2007 07:18 PM

I can assure you, 97 RON fuel is not a limiting factor at 320bhp...or 400bhp, or indeed 500bhp.

Daz, as DMC says, give Michael a call and speak to him. He will be able to sort you out...but do be patient. He is always busy !!!

As for results...check previous TOTB's, Scooby shootouts. We have had several cars at these events in various states of tune, and always had good results. All perfectly normal road cars, that go a tad faster than normal.

You mention you want torque, not extra power as such....

A 2.5 conversion is very good. Almost instant boost low down, and more power everywhere. Although obviously more pricey than normal bolt ons and ecu tuning.

daz4065 04 May 2007 11:48 PM

I think the missus would probably kill me if i told her i was going to change the engine.

I will be able to get away with some good bolt on's and a remap. Ultimately i will go for an engine upgrade, but that will probably be when i blow one up and can justify it.

She still blames me for the sale of her fresh mini cooper sport convertible that was replaced by my current scoob.

:norty: not a bad swap :thumb:

daz4065 05 May 2007 12:04 AM

Not bad teamheath but this is my second sti in a year. she is getting sick to death of me and my cars. i think it is funny and a little expensive, but what the hell :luxhello:

teamheath2 05 May 2007 12:08 AM

What was the 1st? a classic import STI or another bug STI? I think it is like an addiction with Scoobs now! I can't imagine having anything else at the mo, I am definately gonna upgrade to a newer model for my next one though!!
