Oblivion - Help

Firstly i must say what a fantastic game this, just what i have been looking for, addicition is fast setting in :D

Now i want to start a help thread for this classic as i am sure there are a few veteran's present on SN.

At the moment i stuck on the Chorrol Castle investigation. I have found the painting in the west tower but i cant activate it .... any ideas ??

Thanks

Sti

  1. Speak with the countess to learn of the investigation.
  2. Speak to the witnesses and suspects to collect information.
  3. After all five are interviewed, collect the physical evidence.
  4. Confront the culprit, and extract a confession.
  5. Depending on the method you chose, confront the countess and collect your reward

You have to get your disposition up to about 60ish before they will answer your questions.
Or do what most of us have done and bribe them, them ask. you'll get the answers your after and then can check all the rest of the evidence.

sti-04!! 25 April 2007 11:20 PM

sti-04!! 25 April 2007 11:20 PM

When you enter the castle and you are in the throne room take the stairs to the left, there is some birds room on the left again once through the door at the top. She's the theif!

You need to get into her bedroom, do a bit of poking about and you'll find some paint brush's.

The other evidence is in the dining room, there is paint stains on the carpet. (again once in the throne room go through the door on the right hand side when facing the queens chair)... massive table in there.!

You have found the painting so as far as i can remember thats all you need.

No, you must find all three clues. If you do not, then when you accuse the correct person they will just tell you that you have no evidence.

Similarly, as stated above, you must talk to all the suggested people before looking for clues.

Finally, you have the choice whether to stitch up the guilty party to the queen. If you do, you get money; if you don't, you get a painting to hang in your house.

is it obvious when you should bribe someone? ive just started this game recently and havent quite sussed out that wheel of bribery business yet. I did try it on a guard, he was very happy not suprising really seeing as he bled me dry...

myblackwrx 26 April 2007 11:33 AM

Invisible, when you get the wheel up you highlight where you want to start (the bigger the colour quarter the more points it is worth).
Before you start using it move the control stick to highlight a quarter then look at the characters' face (they will scowl ,smile or give a neutral look) then you start (if they smile when you highlight the joke quarter try and get the biggest colour quarter into the joke quarter for more points) but obviously try to get the smallest colour quarter in the thing they don't like (indicated by them scowling).

Not particularly the best explanation i know but hopefully you'll see what i mean if you try it.

Or just listen to their reaction, i assume you had the sound turned on :)

The bribery option is if you're too lazy and too rich to try the wheel :p

Complete the Benirus Manor quest in Anvil (Where spirits have lease), this gives you a free house :-)

And believe me you will need it with the amount of stuff you hoarde over the 100-120hrs playing time.

Yes they did, but it can be removed by clearing the hd cache and playing offline.

If you are playing the 360 version and want the achievements then when you come to the quest to become either the duke of mania or duke of dementia, then save the game, as you only get the option to make one choice, so play one mission get the achievement, then reload and play the other option ;)

corsaklillerz 02 May 2007 09:44 PM

How many points are up for grabs on shivering isle ?

250 i think, i've got 200 and 1 remaining achievement to do, altho it adds points to oblivion, so i've got 1200.

kingofturds 04 May 2007 05:26 PM

How do I start the shivering isles quest? I have downloaded it yet when i load my game nothing comes up.

myblackwrx 04 May 2007 08:05 PM

Go to your main game and you will eventually get a message saying something like 'There are is a strange portal in Nibenay Bay' then you have to get there (can't fast travel to the exact point as you haven't found it yet).

Iain Young 04 May 2007 08:17 PM

I just went to one of my houses and slept for 24 hours. When I woke up, it told me about the new portal...
