Vista permissions issue with Outlook 2007....
Query - just upgraded to Vista Business & Office 2007 Pro Plus
Just exported my Outlook 2003 .pst file. Tyring to import this into Outlook 2007 - comes up with "File access denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file xyz"...... The .pst file is stored in my Users folder btw :) Any ideas how to sort this out? Cheers Dan :) |

If you are logged in as an administrator you might want to check the security on the file as well. In Windows Explorer, right-click the file and select properties. Navigate to the security tab on the popup and should let you alter the file system permissions if necessary. I had to do this with a few files when I upgraded from xp to Vista Ultimate (64bit).

Nice one Iain :)

nope, should be no need to do anything, 2003pst opens straight from 2007. If youre creating a new pst in 2007 theres an option to make it 2003 compatible.
Havent done it by importing, i just do 'open data file' so try it this way instead |

Sorted. Was a permissions thing (although all the assigned users had "full control" rights, it still wasn't working  )
Ended up cutting and pasting back onto my XP partition, and running the file from there. My understanding now is that all email/outlook data is stored in this .pst file .... Interesting. Learning more and more about Vista everyday :) And as an avid Mac-user, I love Vista - great OS......... so far ;) Cheers for the help. Dan |
