Hi gang!
I'm coming to the end of my time with the magic MY00 PPP'd turbo and so the fiancee has offered to buy me one last mod.....
Various people have told me that a down pipe is not a good idea.....inconsistent with PPP etc
Pete Croney has assured me that it's an excellent idea and he's never been wrong about things before.
Have any of you got experience of this?
Does it invalidate the exhaust warranty?
Does it really eliminate turbo lag....?
I'd really appreciate your comments and advice!
Cheers

Hi mate,

Do a search in drivetrain, its probably the most common topic on the BBS and gets asked at least 10 times a day!

I know this, but the search facility is knackered!
Thanks anyway!

Originally when i bought my Terzo it just had a scoobysport b/b on it, it sounded nice but I wanted it louder and I wanted to hear the Turbo whistling at a louder level, so after getting lots of advice from everyone on here I decided for the scoobysport D/P and centre section. I couldnt beleive the difference it made, im still smiling now everytime I take it out. Its noticeably improved the performance aswell.

It has helped eliminate Turbo lag, once you put your foot down it picks up a lot quicker now.

So IMHO get it done you will definately not be sorry you had it done.

The boys at SCOOBYSPORT made me more than happy with what they done

Well worth every penny.

I've just had mine changed to a full Scoobysport on Friday-I began smiling when they started my car up in the workshop & I still smiling now...Even after spending out on 2 tankfulls of optimax this weekend!(cos I can't stop driving around in 3rd gear!!!)
Thankyou Scoobysport!

I will, I will.....but does it invalidate the exhaust warranty or have an effect on MOTs(2yrs old)....?

My boyfriend Shark tells me that warranty will be affected if you have a major failure.

My idea would be, if you have an engine/gearbox failure I would think it wise not to call Subaru. Get the old exhaust put back on before calling Subaru.

Have to agree, this will stuff your warranty, unless you have a completely unrelated failure - and a sympathetic dealer.

Done a fair bit of research on this - am planning SS DP in New Year - and opinion seems to be that you should scrape MOT with original centre section, which has the secondary cat in, as long as the cat is really hot when it's tested.

You're rights guys.......Subaru have told me that it would completely invalidate the warranty and so it's a big no-no for now........
Cheers anyway

That's a shame, from what I've read it's well worth doing, and no reported problems.

I'm intending to do this in the New Year, the warranty was a big consideration (my car is 20 months old, and I've had a few teething problems fixed under warranty), but as I said I've not heard of any problems, and if I did have one, I'd get the original DP swopped back before I made a warranty claim.

Just go for it . Have ppp on uk300 plus full de-cat SS now revs for ever (until limiter hits anyway). Have been told if going for downpipe get up pipe as well to reduce back pressure.

COMPUCOLIN 21 December 2001 05:18 PM

Tried search and its knackered as usual...do Prodrive do replacement filters, downpipes etc that will not invalidate the warrentee and what sort of costs are there for these (400% over i am sure !)? thanks...c

DBM,

One thing which I think some people who have replied have overlooked is that a full SS system on a standard car is generally excepted as being safe. However, with a PPP it is questionable whether or not this is still true. I have asked this question before and I could not find anyone who has a PPP + SS DP and has monitored the fueling / Knock since. I'm sure there are people out there who have done this but I haven't spoken to them.

I would recommend that you either get a Knocklink and Lambdalink first so you can monitor fueling/Knock or at least make one of those John Banks special £10 Air/Fuel gauges to check all is safe once you have done it.

You could also put your car on a Rolling Road to check the fueling once you've changed the DP but this isn't as accurate as it's not the same as monitoring the car whilst on the road.....

All just IMHO :D

Matt :)
