This is a serious question, a friend of mine has a sport and wonders what is possible to get more power out of it

As I said ANY advice would be better thqn none

not worth the expense

With the sport, power is not going to be the main concern.

I would concentrate on the suspension and brakes.... a well sorted sport with decent handling and brakes will give a turbo a very good run for its money on the twisty bits.

Im with POC, we saw a Sport with only a scoobysport exhaust and downpipe keep up with Turbos on the first tour d'ecosse ! with better brakes and suspension it would still be a lot of fun ! may not have the acceleration but once rolling :D

Anyone else got an 'useful' advise ?

What gains can be expected from a SS backbox and induction kit ?

I have run a completely standard power Sport for 2 1/2 years now, i havent ever had problems keeping up with Turbo's. I can quite easily leave most when it's wet.

Best mods for the Sport are decent tyres (on turbo 16" wheels) and learning to drive properly. You'll get a slight increase in power and torque with an exhaust and filter (10BHP region). I have never bothered because i cant be bothered with the hasle with insurance, aint worth it for the gains in performance.

I took my Sport for a run round the Nurburgring a couple of weeks ago, 4 up i passed an ex works Renault Alpine Rally car. This is on standard brakes/pads/engine and suspension. Spend your money on tyres and limit handling driver training.
