Gear Crunching

Anyone got any clues why going from 2nd to 3rd gear would crunche and it only does it changeing up not down. A new clutch was put in last year so didnt think it would be this ?
Help would be much appreciated, Thanks all:confused:

The syncro no, but the box will have to be removed and openend to replace the money is in the labor.

Would it be best/cheaper to buy my own parts and get someone to fit ? If so what parts would i need ?

You will need th syncro cone you can get this yourself but i would rather let the person fitting it supply the parts that wasy its correct as it could end up taking longer the other way.

snowy - I had a problem like this on my P1 and changed the oil to Redline Heavy Duty Shockproof oil - and it cured the crunching.

Worth a try before you go to the extremes of changing synchros, etc.

You may also find that your gearbox oil level is too low - so worth a check as a top up could also help :D
