Stupid question but.....
I have a 1995 sti, could any of you good people what the dipstick near the turbo measures? Am i right in presuming that it is gearbox oil level and as mine is lower than a snakes belly how do i top it up and what should i use? When you have stopped laughing at my lack of knowledge any help would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks. |
Yes it's gearbox and diff oil. I believe you fill it down the dipstick aperture (using a funnel) or I might be imagining things, not sure :wonder:

Ta mate,
Any idea what oil to use? |
Gearbox and centre diff oil... fill it down the dipstick hole
some people suggest overfilling it slightly afaik... but to be safe just aim for the full mark. Gaz |
Thanks for that chaps.

75w90 gear oil... thats what I used anyway
|
try using castrol syntrax, i kno halfrauds deffinatley sell it.
But if i were you id empty out the remainder of the old oil before putting new oil in. You will find the diff drain plug directly underneath the diff box. I did mine recently and ended up using about 4 litres as most people reccomended me slightly overfilling to better protect 3rd gear. |
And to fill it, a small length of hose down the dipstick tube with a funnel on the end makes it much easier... :D
Ady. |
Job done Many thanks for all your help guys.
