PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

o.k. where do i start. i am very close to smashing the **** out of my rally car. its a 93 wrx import and ran perfectly when i bought it 4 months ago! i have been preparing the car since so has only been used to transport around and up an down my lane. about 2 weeks ago it started to idle bad and got progessivley worse! i checked everything i read on other threads. new ngk plugs, clean icv, check coils, fuel filter etc. now i had a full decat revolution exhaust fitted and its gone tits up completely! it barely starts and when it does it cant idle and about 10 seconds it just starts popping and missing and when you rev it white/brown smoke comes from the exhaust! what is going on here guys. really need your wisdom. cheers

forgot to add that the car is meant to be going to alan jeffery on thursday to have a simtek ecu with antilag fitted. im now at the point where im hoping as its jap that the ecu is just fubar and a new ecu and good remap will solve it. also the lambda is not connected as the downpipe opening for it was bodged closed. but i have had 2 other imprezas like this and had no issues! cheers again

Mine did the same, Have you done a compression test??

A compression tester costs about 20 notes, go and get one and do a comp test.
will be easier to help if we know what compression you have.

Take all the plugs out, and do it on WOT for about 10 seconds with the crank sensor disconnected.

oh no, this sounds bad and expensive. not mechanically mided at all mate. what is wot?? how did you fix yours bud?

WOT = Wide Open Throttle (or foot to the floor)

Fixed mine by putting a new engine in, but yours may be ok, it's just a test to diagnose the problem. they always come in handy, so go and get one and do the test and post up the results, this way we can help you :thumb:

Have you been to halfords and got a compression tester?

jaytc2003 16 April 2007 08:28 AM

have you tried doing an ecu reset and then checking for error codes?

havent got a compression tester yet. sticking to plan and taking it for re-map on thursday at alan jeffery and he said he will have a look and tell me whats up! had a look at doing ecu reset and the connectors arent there, just one green one! its an import and all the wiring has been bodged.
