MAF to MAP?

First question I have is has anyone on hear had any luck using the ECU Flash or Enginuity software on an MY99 using the Tactrix cable?? I dont think anyone has made a definitions table yet for that model but has anyone managed to get a Rom image or data log??

Main question is as I cant get the above to work Im thinking of getting the Apexi Power FC so can I get rid of the MAF with this and replace with a MAP sensor?? If not is there a more robust MAF I can use with it as im getting fed up of changing mine?? Thanks, Shane.

I believe it is to do with the Kernel whcih is stopping 99~00 and openecu etc..

so no reading of rom file.

Haven't tried logging.

PowerFC is maf based but you can fit a Q45 or Z32 maf to it whcih are more robust... if you keep getting failures when it is secured properly vibrations kill them.

Im thinking it is vibration as its started killing them after fitting my front mount, the bracket for the Blitz SUS induction filter was no longer long enough to bolt down as the filter is lifted up by the intercooler pipework.

also I don't think the filtration on the Blitz is the best.. which won't help..

I've seen a site which says the Blitz is poor and that the Apexi is good for filtration, which would you recommend??

K&N, Apexi are both good.. the HKS works well but the sponge tends to shrink allowing air to pass unfiltered when they get old, but the sponge is replaceable..

not to say others aren't good too mind, just the blitz isn't wonderful.. good for power but not for filtering.

Been running an Apexi for nearly 4 years and have had no problems with it.It is very well secured to stop any vibration

Thanks for the help, i'll get it changed. Think i'll leave the open source tuning alone before I break something. Not that I think my engine or gearbox will last long once everything is fitted and mapped as its a UK car. Cheers, Shane.
