still problems
 
is there anything else that would make the car not start, i mean. i've checked & changed the ignitor/ the crank senser & cam senser has been changed, i even changed the ecu. but the car still wont start, i do get a spark from 3 of the coils. but checking the wiring comes back as perfect, theres no brakes at all there.

all the coils are perfect working order as i tryed them in the other ports. the engine turns perfect, just dont fire.

what else can i check, the only main thing changed to the engine is the pistons. i got a set of sti v4 pistons in there. the cams have been checked, both left & right, ex/in. the cam belt is spot on. with a new belt & tentioner, i'm getting fuel in there perfect.

but i'm still only getting sparks from 3 ports. its number 3 pot/connetion i dont get a spark from, i thought also the car can start on 3 pots.

is there anything else i can check, i'm out of ideas completly:D

need to go down to basics..

you know the left and right banks is as sat in the drivers seat not looking in the engine bay? ie. the cams are in the right sides and cam wheels on the right sides?

the crank pulley is not damaged? the crank sensor picks up a signal from this..

the left bank inlet pulley has the cam sensor pick up on it.. is that one correct and undamaged.

if it is purely down to no spark on number 3 it would start and run on the other cylinders.. I don't think it does no?

coil packs black connections to the rear cylinders, injector connectors darker grey to the rear cylinders..

the connectors are fully pushed home by the battery?

the connector at the top of gearbox is connected?

you did line the crank pulley up using the little line not the arrow?

the same with the cam wheels.. top cam wheels at 12oclock and exhaust wheels at 3oclock..

Have you compression tested it?? if all four are good then that eliminates cambelt / wheels / camshafts issues etc....

so far so good, i took some pics of the cams too. as every one kept saying that was why it would not start:

the cam pullies i changed back to the plaggy type, as they were magnetic. but the sti v2 ones were not all 7 are points are fine too. the top cam pullies as is the crank is set to 12 o'clock, & the bottom left is as you look at the engine is 3 o'clock and the right to 9 o'clock. with the letf & the right having the 2 engraded marks facing each other.

i first lined all up with the marks on the covers & that aboth the crank, the dayco belt also has the lines/marks on the belts.

you can not see much regards the timing, but its right.
i haven't my self done a compretion test, but i'll do one tomorrow.
tha garage who ripped me off tryed to say they did, & that it was fine

it didn;t start on plastic or metal ones?

I just refitted engine to my car this afternoon and nothing else springs to mind that could be the issue..

just thought.. earthing points all attached?

that was just me mate, as a couple of persons were on about the plastic to the metal type. all the earthing points i've checked

the last couple of things i changed was the crank senser & the cam senser.
but i put the pics up to show the cams are right as is the cam pullies mate.

i'll do a compretion test tomorrow. but when tuned by hand, every time it hits a compretion point, it goes stiff as it should. and you can here the injector go as is the sound of the coil. but i'll do it tomorrow mate

the thing i dont get is, it worked fine. all i did was the engine. i dident touch the wiring at all. the inlet manifold i did. but all testard fine. no brakes

all the aboth checked mate, the main earthing for the inlet is the loom. to which there are only two rings to bolt to the left rear side of the manifold. but when checking the plugs. i touched them to the manifold, & apart from that number 3 connection. all sparked, but apart from the ignitor bolted to the back of the boost controler. what else is in charge of sparks

i'm out of ideas, but want this bl**dy car done

prblem sorted mate, it was in the end the timming. theres 2 marks, 1 being covered in oilly dirt. it fired right up

but i may have found the real reason why the gasket went, it feels very groggy like its not fireing on all four. know i did put new coils on, but they were red capped. they should have been white. anyways, i'll do a compretion test to make sure every thing is ok & sealed. if so it has to be the coils are braking down. unless theres some thing else to try first

but at least every thing else was right.
but is was only picked up via a subaru tecnition, no one said there was 2 marks.

well thats my reason anyways.
but beleave me, i may be quite tall. but i seemed very small when the guy said whart the problem was

yes, it was covered. never thought there was 2 marks. or should i say i could only see 1

sorry my frend, i did look. but all there was is the arrow on there.
but regards this other problem, could it be coil brake down. i'm using red cap coils not the white

don't really know if there a difference, as they was new in january. the seller never said anything

but apart from being a little groggy, its a little smoky at the back. but clears

if i do a compretion test, and and is negative to piston failer. should it be the coils
