Is Cast Iron worth anything as scrap???

I have a boiler vent that is attached to the gable end of a property. It was used to vent a boiler that was in the cellar (property is victorian). It is the height of the house circa 35 feet is oblong in shape property measuring 18 inches by 8.

I need to take it down as I'm doing some work on it and it looks pretty ugly on the side of the house, just wondering if is worth anything as it is a fair amount of iron.

cheers,

chop :)

Scrap prices are on the up at the moment, so it's probably worth taking in :)

depends what you call a fair amount mate

we on average scrap about 7 MT of metal every week, thats iron and steel, and its not worth the effort to separate the 2. the only pne we sort is aluminum

ul get a few quid for it, have a pop down to the local scrappy, he will or should have all his up to date prices on a little chalk board nr there scales, save you karting it about

Took a trailer full of cast down the scrappy a while back, got about £10 for it. Copper on the other hand is circa £2000 per MT!

I suppose common sense really, but ring around, amazing how many try it on.

I always get 'oooh its not a good price for ally at the moment' and i'm like 'oh thats funny, everytime i go to buy the damn stuff its always gone through the roof again'

Dont p1ss down my back and tell me its raining:Whatever_

Clean heavy cast is about £80/ton. That's dockside though!

I drive past a scrapped on the way to one of our nearby towns. Dropped off an old gate my aunt was finished with, got £3. Not a lot, but then it was just a gate. 2 free pints for stopping my car is a good deal :)
