Clio diesel rad fan question

Hi all,

Picked myself up a cheapo '94 1.9 clio diesel runabout for picking up dents and dings in tescos carpark, but have a little query on it. :wonder:

The rad fan cut in after a "rushed" drive and was still running when I switched off (nothing exceptional there) and walked away. However, a few hours later I went back to the car and the fan was still running and it had flattened the battery

I disconnected the little multiplug by the fan to stop it running.

So I'm guessing the temp sensor for the fan has failed. Not having a Haynes book of lies, can anyone tell me where it's located or if they know of a simple fix..? :wonder:

Cheers,
Nige. :thumb:

Looking at the engine from the front of the car I believe it is mounted in the left hand side of the radiator about half way down mate.

Hi,
my Dad had this on his Pug 406 estate - a common problem with corroded contacts on a relay which sits on top of the Radiator (under a black cover which we had to pop off) which caused the fan to stay on once it was activated. The RAC dude came out and removed the relay, cleaned it and put it back in - job done. The relay obviously get corroded easy due to it's location.

Seeing as yours comes from the same country it could very well be a similar issue....
