Sadly, agreed - once it starts to flake you can't stop it, so a respray it is. :(

It only seems to be the lacquer and not the paint, i was wondering if i could get something to recoat it without a respray?

nope
if you are not handy with a spray gun......
but a smart repair man will be able to repaint the scoop far cheaper then a regular bodyshop IMO

Checked it in to my local bodywork place for a quick look and quote. They said it would be about £80 - £90. Im thinking of just getting a new scoop from scoobyworld, STI8 Style High Bonnet Scoop £155 painted.

even though its just the laquer you will get a better finish, the stuff to do the job yourself would set you back about £40, but dont het it from halfords etc, try someone like Morelli: Total Supply Solution
