Tyre Recommendations Golf Mkv

Tyre choice on a Mkv TDi 140 Golf please. Had Eagle GSD's last and they make the steering very heavy, and not very impressed with wear. OEm is Michelin Energy Savers but they are pricey.

Thanks

Goodyear NCT 5 , Only £50 each all in and are spot on.

Seconded! Goodyear NCT 5 are excellent (but not NCT 3)

Vredestein are also worth considering, as these tyres were original fitment on some German cars a few years back.
:)

I've had two types on my MkV TDi to date.

First Bridgestone RE050 - very good grip and felt very planted on the road. Steering did feel heavy but I liked it this way.

Second Pirelli P-ZERO Rozzo (or Rossi?) - Seem a bit more wallowy at higher speed but grip very good in the wet.

Prefer the Bridgestones.

Went back to the OEM Michelin E3A tyres in the end. Amazing how the GSD3 did not suit the car one bit. The Michelins have lightened up the steering nice and feels much better balanced.

I suppose it depends on tyre sizes and suspension. I have the GT TDi which comes as standard with 225/45/R17 tyres and lowered suspension.

The wife's is the GT TDi pre 170 bhp version, now called the Sport IIRC. 205-55-16 tyres.

I didn't know they started making the 170 version available till the backend of last year. Bizzare that is comes with those wheels, you'd think with that power they'd at least put the large black rings on.
