Looks like hotels are all sorted, Marv asked if you could share with 15 x 18 year girl students but I think it got lost in translation.

I will say sorry in advance if we end up in the wood shed

I've always found that in situations like that, a 2lb lump hammer is a good tool to use :D

It nearly came to that mate - managed to sort it by going to the Tom Tom official website to find a troubleshooter (not included in the guide you get!!) - basically I had to reset it

stormy 10 May 2007 07:13 PM

Based on the recces Tom Tom should be called Bam Bam

Mrk and I are booked up for recce 3 in Austria in 4 weeks time to check the route book. Same roads in 1.1 hire car only 275-430 bhp less than our own cars exciting or what.

Any one had a chance to check insurance for Czech republic

Heard a rumour black tie and Karlvory Casino

Marv

The Tom Tom does work very well in Europe. It took me from Milan Aiport to our hotel in Trento (door to door) wihtout fault.

The problem I discovered when importing a route that had been pre-programmed was that the unit will try to take you on the easiest/ most direct route to each way point, rather than the mountain pass that you are aiming for.
I'm sure that this can be ironed out - I had only just bought the Tom Tom, so in my experience it was constantly telling me to turn around, etc.

However on the retutn to the airport from the hotel it was fantastic yet again.

I think more experience and knowledge of how to set up the Tom Tom would make it perfect. I was very impressed with the 3D map showing how tight the bends were on the mountains though - almost like seeing round the corner :D:D:D Not sure I'd trust it 100% though as you may only have 1 chance to get it wrong :D:D:D

Stuart Knight 13 May 2007 11:10 AM

We used the tom tom as pace notes when we did the last euro tour. It easier with two of you though, you have to make sure that you are still locked onto a satellite otherwise it is not updating your position correctly, but it is great when the passenger can call left kink, left kink, hairpin right to you! :)

MarvSTi5 14 May 2007 12:25 AM

Tom Tom sounds good to me then - I'll have to read the instruction book on how to get the most out of it!! lol :D

Then of course there's the buddy system on it where you can keep tabs on up to 5 other compatible Tom Tom users - could be useful (if anyone can work out how to do it!!) :thumb:

stuart148 14 May 2007 06:44 AM

Stuart

Cost for trip is:-

£590 price which includes a ferry crossing for one car, 3* plus accommodation for 2 persons and a route book.

Cost for 2 drivers with 2 cars sharing one twin/double room is £365 each.

Ferry costs are creeping up so can only offer prices above until end of May

Discount for drivers not wanting to book their own ferries/tunnel is £60

Any questions let us know
