Flower question - when do Bluebells come out?

Have I missed them flowering this year, or are they yet to flower?

There's a really cool wood near me which gets totally carpeted by Bluebells each year, and hence looks pretty impressive and good for photos. The plants are there and have green leaves, but I don't know if they've flowered already yet...?

Anyone? :)

You ought to come over to France. the area where we're doing up a house, the bluebells come out and are intermingled with deep reddish-purple orchids.

And before them, the fields and hedge bottoms are covered in wild primroses and cowslips.
Fantastic.

Anytime from now onwards, depends on weather conditions. Our local wood is a sight to behold.

I doubt if youve seen bluebells in March - sure they werent hyacinths?

May is the traditional month for bluebells Iwan, but they could be earlier this year because of the mild winter. All our spring flowers came out early down here in the West Country.

Your doubting is misplaced.

Bluebells are all over my mums garden, and have been for over a week.

Iwan 30 March 2007 05:50 PM

Well the hyacinths are out in my garden, and have been for a few weeks. I'd better started making more regular trips to where the the bluebell forest is - I want to take some piccies and show the GF/GF's kid this year. :)

I wandered lonely as a cloud, that floats on high o'er vales and hills, when all at once I saw a shroud, a host of blueish bluebells.

Apparition 30 March 2007 09:28 PM

Iwan, You miss understood me. I said they can be seen anytime from now onwards, they have started to appear in our local woods. The pic was taken some years ago but was to demonstrate the effect when they are ALL in bloom. Lovely sight.
