Active Directory?

ok here goes..

we ghost a machine, rename it,put it back into the domain, and cannot log on until we take the workstation out of the domain into a workgroup and then restart and then put it back into the domain!!!

all this is done on the local machine and not at server level...any idea's

BlkKnight 29 March 2007 10:34 AM

try removing the machine from within ADUC & then try joining the domain.

munna 29 March 2007 10:40 AM

tried that...its as though the ghost image is causing a replication problem..the test machine that was used to ghost was on the network at the time!!

ahhhhhh...got it...the ghost image is an image of a workstation that is already on the network..need to do a clean ghost of a PC with no naming convention..

its ok...i make sense to my self!!!

thank you

munna 29 March 2007 10:41 AM

hold on....that should not be a problem!!!

Bring back NDS...all is forgiven...please forgive me..for i have lain in bed with the devil..!!!

HA HA HA

Did you sysprep the machine before you ghost'ed the PC image up

may be the SID messing things up

Doesn't sound like sysprep had been run just a straight disk image so yes the way forward is to sysprep the machine you want to image so that computer name, account and sids are removed and then when you build a new machine with the sysprep image you will be prompted to give it a name and add it to the domain at which point it will go into AD as a new machine.

Edit - Oops too late as usual.

if your rebuilding the machine it's because active directory already shows that barcode (or whatever name you use) as being there
