Another New Labour failure....

Did you know that in 1999 Tony Blair promised that every person would have access to an NHS Dentist. :lol1:

Anyone care to defend them on this one, given how much of my taxes have been spent on the NHS!

Ryo 28 March 2007 11:56 AM

OOh - dont start me on this one.

I went private, pretty much had to as our local dentist went private too - the nearest NHS dentist wont take on any new patients as they are full to the brim.

I do like the benifits of private dentist care, but I feel I had no other choice really and was forced into it, and yes hearing that statemnt from 1999 makes me angry !

I think its like the NHS strategy all over, make it bad enough so that people are kind of forced to go private if they have the cash for it, then that leaves less people for the NHS to care for and waiting lists will seemingly drop.

New Labour failure? SURELY not?

If I set a target at work then I make sure that there is plenty of slack and it is easily achievable ;) Surely they had a plan as to how to achieve the desired outcome  Yet still things got a load worse, not one iota better

Why is greedy Dentists not sharing part of the blame. They must be Tory in their ideals.

kingofturds 28 March 2007 07:13 PM

I want a rebate on my taxes :D

I don't know - how much of your taxes have been spent on the NHS?

Its 17% for 2005-06 (actually more accurately its 17% of Government spending)

Look will you lot pack it in with the NL failings, if you try and list them all SN is going to need some bigger hard drives in their server! :D

So very inaccurately 17% of Paul's taxes

I want to know how much he spent to I can answer his question :)

As the TaxPayer is funding Dentists training then the newly qualified Dentists should be made to work in the NHS for 5 years to pay back what they owe society.

That would also drive the Private Dentists into the realms of sensible charges as there will be a young, keen, NHS Dentist along the road delivery a service.

Paul3446 29 March 2007 10:26 AM

Labour have vastly increased spending on the NHS, which has been funded by the tax payer, therefore an increased % of my tax has gone to the NHS. Why is it relevant what the exact figure is? :wonder:

Tony Blair promised everyone would have access to an NHS dentist by 2001, it is now 2007 and the situation has just got worse and worse.

Because you asked ;)

Paul3446 29 March 2007 11:24 AM

I asked why Labour had failed to deliver a promise, given how much of my taxes had been spent on the NHS.

To make it simpler for you, the question is "Why have Labour failed to deliver NHS Dentists"? The question is not "How much of my tax has been spent on the NHS"?

Leslie 29 March 2007 11:35 AM

Yet another empty promise, he has not been able to cover this up with any form of smoke and mirrors so he wiil do his usual trick and make himself scarce on that question.

Les :(

This is a bit of a play on words (cheating in other words)..... somewhere near you there will be a DAC (dental access centre) where you can see an NHS dentist for emergency / urgent care but not much else.

therefore you do have "access" to an NHS dentist which is what he said, but they can't do a lot!!

I'm not sure where all the new NHS money has gone either.......For example The letters I have dictated and signed today are downstairs in a sack because our clinic has run out of money to post letters. I think someone is going to stick the outgoing post in their car and dump it at the reception desk of our Trust HQ for them to deal with LOL
