£6000 cabriolet

what would you go for im thinking of the saabs, anyone had any experience of them , which engine is the best to go for

Nat 26 March 2007 12:35 PM

I''d go for an Audi Cabriolet with a V6 in.

J4CKO 26 March 2007 12:48 PM

Nah, no experience of Saabs whatsoever....

Dont bother with the 2.0 non turbo, its crap, you might like it seeing as you arent bothered, that one of Grahams was flat as a fart compared to mine and mines just the LPT but its plenty fast enough, remember the Cab's are quite a bit heavier than the hatch so the lose a few tenths, half a second over most acceleration increments. The cabs also don't handle as well due to some pillock removing the roof and replacing it with the top half of a pram, still someone thought it was a good idea. Basically any of the turbo engines are ok as that what Saab are good at, there are a few V6's but you probably wont see any but if you do I wouldnt bother as they are thirsty and not as quick as the turbo models.

Is it a good idea putting Sam in something without a lid ?

Avoid the 900 (GM) as the 9-3 is meant to be a way better handdler, and to be honest mines crap so god knows what the 900 must have been like, should be able to get a well cared for 9-3 cab for six grand but is the public ready for you in a Cabriolet eating a Kebab ?

Drove a 9-3 turbo auto cab once. Enjoyed the engine but by crikey it scared the living daylights out of me when the screen wobbled around going over some potholes. Felt like I was driving a cut and shut.

Here was my cab [cost me more than £6k to]! It's long gone now, but was soooo cool. Being an old cab, the sides are real low, so you could just get your elbow on the door and cruise - feeling so in the open-air :)

I don't know if you have them in the UK, but there is a version of the Toyota Paseo as a convertible. Its not glamorous, but its trouble free, reliable and really cheap.

We had the coupe version - it went down like a wet fart in crowded lift in the UK. :D

I think the Saab and Volvo C70 are pleasent.
