I'm looking to replace the clutch in my STi4 and would be interested in hearing from anyone who has previously done this themselves and could offer any advice/the procedure.
I would also be interested in comments regarding whether I should fit a replacement STi clutch assembly or one of the AP kits (or similar).
I have been quoted £600 plus labour for an STi clutch at a dealer, but I would rather eat my postman's socks than pay that sort of money!

What have you guys paid?

Neil.

We do it for £731 inc vat.

Re-machined flywheel
Spigot bearing
Release bearing
Helix clutch plate and cover
Fully synth gearbox oil

It takes 4-5 hours.

Pete.

Is this using an STi clutch kit?

Hi Neil

No, this is with a Helix. The Helix has a better feel and higher torque rating. An STi clutch would be cheaper, but I'll have to check on parts prices as its been a while.

Thanks Pete. (I should have read your post properly!)

Is that it?
With all the learned experts on this board no one has changed a clutch? (except Pete, and he won't want to tell me how to do it ;) ).

I have done it... I posted details of how to do it.. but quite easy to do if you can be bothered.... main problem is releasing the clutch release bearing... mail me if you want more details.. as I have a hangover at the mo. and cant be bothered typing!...

Hi David.

I'd given up on you! You began giving me a day by day blow of your progress a couple of months back but then fizzled out.
I'd assumed you just scrapped the car ;)

I'll drop you an e-mail.

Neil.
