Poor braking ability on Type-R!!!
 

I think perhaps the fluid needs changing. I have heard that due to heat retention on standard 4-pot Sti calipers the fluid can become cooked. The pedal feels soft with less bite than normal until further depressed. Any idea why this is so? Also I've heard that changing the fluid will only repeat the problem with these calipers later on after a few hard stops, fluid is cooked again!:razz:

If an upgrade is necessary can anyone suggest the route I should take? Is there any calipers out there that are as good as the godly A.P. four pots without the not so godly price tag? :wonder:

not sure where you got your info from, but never had many issues with the std Subaru calipers although the later Brembo calipers are bad for retaining heat dependant on use.....................

what pads, set-up do you have, how long since fluid change and type, and what sort of use/abuse do you put your car to??

generally a decent dot5.1 is enough for most fast road use.............

a set of braided brake lines from Goodrich will help with brake feel and as Alyn says above - use of Dot5.1 brake fluid will prevent fluid boiling - Halfords own brand is fine.
