MY98 Impreza Starting Problems.

Hi,

My Gf's Auntie has a Red MY98 classic.

When she start's the car in the morning the revs keep wanting to die out unless you keep revving it, even at stationairy she has to keep the revvs high to stop its stalling. When it does stall it wont start back up again for about 40mins.
This only happens when the engine is cold.

The garage has said the valves are knackerd but that would affect compession.

And advice would be helpfull.:thumb:

part of your description sounds like the crank sensor classic fault where it won't restart when warm.. if she stops for fuel will it restart? ie. warm start?

beyond that assuming there is no check engine light on.. I would guess at lambda sensor is faulty.. although this doesn't usually effect cold running too much..

Garage don't sound like they know what they are doing.. suggest she tries a specialist scoob garage.

As you are Bristol direction I presume the car is that way too so probably Len@Subaru4U Untitled would probably be your best bet.

Simon
