EJ20G injector removal instructions

Hi, I've been looking on NASIOC and ScoobyMods for instructions on how to remove fuel injectors out of a MY96 EJ20G but with no luck. I searched ScoobyNet but didn't find anything.

Does anyone have a link to instructions on how to remove them? I'm not sure if I can just pull the injectors straight out once the metal caps are off of if I have to remove the fuel rails.

phase 2 ones pull straight out. but they take some pulling out.

Excuse my ignorance but how do I know if it's Phase 2 or not? (JDM motor)

Correct me if im wrong but phase2 = my98-my00 i think. Mine were really tight on the o-rings, try turning them while pulling. I ended having to remove the rail & get it in a vice.

Bowsaaa, so the steps for an early EJ20G are unplugged the harness, remove the two 8mm bolts holding the metal cap in place, then pull the injector out?

I was going to do this but it feels like there's something in the way and I didn't want to break the injector. Then again they're 12 years old and the O-rings are probably brittle.

wiggle side to side. they really suck, if you have the rails off the car, you can just push down on the tips - this almost guarentees that you'll crack the 10 year old plastic tips.....

theres no good way to remove them.

Yep, sounds the same. I left a few butcher marks in mine using a pair of pipe wrench pliers but they're still working fine, they had only been fitted 2yrs but there was 4 o-rings on each injector.

Chris.
