You want to buy a GTO for use as a shopping car? :wonder:

May I suggest a Corsa or similar ;)

My dad has a mk2 TT. In 3 years he's never had any trouble at all with it. Not driven particularly hard. Main things to watch out for are gearbox - very costly to repair/replace and a weak point on the car, electronic suspension - make sure it works if the car has it, active aero - again make sure it works and has not been disabled/removed.
There are also reported problems with vibration under braking, no one can agree if its warped discs or simply a layer of crap on the disc. Either way if it does it then it will annoy you and end up costing money to fix.

Other than that I'd just say as per usual, use common sense, give it a drive and if it looks and feels as it should with the claimed mileage then it should be fine. I think GTO's are the type of car that it will save you a fortune in the long run if you buy right in the first place.

Excellent road presence, TT is quick but dont expect it to go round corners all that well!

As a Grand Tourer I like it, 100+ on the Mway is a breeze in a GTO.

They fly round corners! Excellent handling.

Great choice next to a Cadillac! Handling's great and hassle-free.

They never were very well rated- too heavy and dull-and that was the turbo!
