My one front disk has blue dots on the face with cracks eminateting from them. The blue is hot spots by vents (UK MY99 4 pot) The disc has worn down 2/3 of their life. The cars done 37K is there any chance of warrenty replacement????
Ps. I've only ever used Subaru UK supplied pads. I have done track days but none in 2.5k miles and were O/K 1K miles ago on service bar from the pad and disc wear.
So what my chances of replacing them under warrenty, slim to none:eek:

Tony,

Hows it going? Still got the Gold trackday wheels?

I'd have thought it unlikely Subaru would replace discs under warranty at that mileage. I recently put Bremsport Group N Discs on my MY00 - £107 for a pair including VAT & carriage :) - www.tas.uk.com Genuine Subaru discs are about £140 each

Cheers,

Ian.

Mines going in for it's 37.5K service tomorrow and subaru are swapping disks for some prodrive jobs under warrenty I have to pay the diffence. it's my 3rd set of standard disks though. They were changed in may01 also under warrenty.
These have the dreaded cracks already. only lasted 12k.

MY99 rb5.

Steve, that is a result! :) !

I don't recall any post on here where the dealer has upgraded for Prodrive discs, even though many have tried. You could argue that you shouldn't have to pay the difference, but hey, at least you'll have some decent stoppers.

Tony, if I were you I'd mail Steve for confirmation and maybe take your car to his dealership. It seems that some dealers can achieve more than others on warranty claims. Also, despite the mileage I think you still have a warranty claim as the discs have not worn out, they have failed - and in a potentially dangerous way.

But whatever you do, don't pay top price for standard replacements. They will fail again, especially if you do the odd track day. BTW I had a set of Bremsport Group N replacements and they didn't last much longer than stock on track. The best replacement discs seem to be either the Prodrive ones or Pagids. Or give drop Ian Godney (Godspeed) a mail.

Good luck.

Richard.

Yes I had to argue like hell with the service manager and said there was absolutely no point in putting the same crap disks on again to do the same thing. Especially since they only lasted 1 set of pads. I've never been on a track with car just drive it quite quickly.
After a call to IM they phoned me back and said they'd do it.
wicked....
I'm obvisouly having the prodrive pads fitted as well i think they are DS2000 and cost £155 a set. WOW.... what are these made of. well if they last longer than the standard crap pads (they only last 7.5K)they may work out cheaper.

Richard & Steve,
Thanks for the replies, I'll contact the local dealer 30 miles away. Don't hold out much hope though:( considering the the cr4p I've had over a replacement clutch, I'd paid for 3k miles ago £666 no fitting charge done whilst doing a oil leak.
They replace my old twin plate that I'd never had a judder, slip or gear change crunch. This one is crunching first to second won't go into 1st gear Stationary or 5mph (change the Oil a bit better) I might just ask for me old clutch back:D
I will probably not bother with a UK model again:( will be looking at a STI 7 in the next couple of months:D:D:D

Had the prodrive disks fitted yesterday They cost £329 for the pair but the dealer knocked me off £185 for the warrenty replacements, they didn't charge me for fitting either. Pads were a staggering £164.
Hopefully these will last longer than 7months.
I'm mighty impressed with the dealer - Chapmans of pickering. It was only in for 37.5k service and it got a full valet.

I Think I'd change dealers. Chapmans had to phone IM for authority IM said go ahead.
Just goes to show some dealers can't bothered.

Tony...

No comment regarding dealer!

Have they gone because of all the excessive braking into petrol stations :D?

Go for an STI7!!!

T5NYW 15 December 2001 10:16 AM

Fizz,
Reguarding the fuel economy I average 150miles on a tank:D but mine is the 50 Ltr tank not the 60 ltr on some.
