The new Renault 5 Turbo?

On the autoexpress website they have some videos from the Geneva show one of which is of the new Twingo. It's going to initially be released as a n/a 1.2 and a 1.2 turbo with about 100bhp. But the interesting one comes later when Renaultsport are releasing one with 150bhp!! Small car, small turboed engine, could it be the new 5 turbo?

Discuss :)

Another bloody tempting small, quick (second) car..............at least if it ends up looking the same as the concept.

Corsa VXR,and new Grande Punto Abarth are also looking good!!

Hopefully the manufacturers are going to start making some proper hot(light) hatches again.

Had two of the 5gtt's. Loved every minute of ownership. Was thinking of buying another one couple of months back just for some fun.

With the Renaultsport one at 150bhp surely tuners are going to have them pushing out 175-200bhp and then it would be quite some little pocket rocket!

My inlaws rented a Twingo on our last visit to France. Fantastic little car - I hope the new one will be lighter than the clio's/corsa's/punto's available now!

It will only be a true Twingo if they build it as a LHD only.
Its part of the charm of the little car.

It will have stiff competition with the soon to be released Fiat 500

Problem is the hatchblack models are becoming so much bigger and heavy now with safety and refinemeant top of the agenda. The old R5 only weighed 893kg (and felt like it too!), the Clio williams 980kg, and the Trophy 1070kg, but even with far more power their new clio 197 is well over 1240kg, so there is now need for a smaller chuckable performance supermini. If they can keep the Twingo to near 1000kg then they are doing well.

With the new CTR becoming more heavier and refined, I'd like to see a high reving performance Honda Jazz as well. I've heard they do a 150bhp versions in Japan don't they?

There is a 1.5 vtec Jazz available in Japan but it does'nt have 150bhp - its 109hp and 105lb/ft torque. A Jazz Type-R would be quite something though!
