Best way to remove sticky stuff?
 
In this pic you can see a sticky foam type tape used to secure the, now removed, spats.

What would be the best way to reove this stuff?

Autoglym Tar remover, hair dryer and a little bit of elbow grease

Agreed! Any decent glue and tar remover, a hair drier or heat gun on low heat and a little gentle rubbing with bare fingers. After it all comes away, wash the car as normal. :)
