Silly cow bumped my WRX

I'd only had my scooby 3 weeks and a stupid cow reversed out of her drive rite across the main road and into the side of my car,it was parked outside ourkids house and luckily he saw her. After confronting her she admitted liability and is now in the hand of the insurance.I took the car for 2 estimates one to bmw who quoted £1700 to replace the door and front wing and a local garage who quoted £600 to replace wing and fix the door(im guessing they would be using filler :nono: ) I only sent in the bmw quote in which there seems to be no problem with.
On tue their insurance co are sending a engineer to asses the damage,am i within my rights to insist that the door is replaced and not boched with filler. The damage doesn't look that bad but obviously i want it fixing properly.
The car only cost me £3600 so £1700 might seem excessive.

Any advice greatfully apriciated. Regards ossett

As it is the 3rd party's insurance that should pay, there should be no issue with cost. If it was your own insurance (going knock-for-knock) then you are perilously close to having the car written off!

Bear in mind - as their assessor will - that a decent breaker will get more than £3200 for your can in bits.

The cost will be in the labour I would of thought, BMW will be over a £100 an hour I would think. Most places would replace the door if it's bad as it can take longer/cost more to fill/repair than replace it.

You should be given the money to replace the panels if required. Insurance companies dont like it but they have to make original repairs to damaged cars.

That's really unlucky mate, i know how you feel because when i got my first scoob I'd only had it 6 hours when a white van man drove to the passenger side, hope the insurance pay out.
