A couple of questions about the Prodrive Performance Pack, circa 1995. If there are any gurus out there that can provide any answer I'd be really grateful:-
1) How would I recognise such an ECU (except plugging it in and driving)? Are there any serial numbers, etc. Will it say Subaru or Prodrive on the box? 2) Does this 1995 PPP have to run on Super Unleaded or will normal unleaded work okay? (I expect SUL will give better performance, but will it be unsafe running on NUL, i.e. det, etc?) 3) Specifically, what piping is replaced by the PPP? And is it advisable to do the same if I fit a PPP ECU? 4) Can I get the required replacement piping kit from Prodrive or anyone else and is it easy to fit? 5) Lastly, any tips when it comes to swapping out the old ECU with the new one? Thanks for any replies, Cheers, Andy |
Anyone?

Andy,
I had a MY00 PPP. 1. ECU has a pink STi sticker 2. SUBARU recommends SUL 3. Piping is silicon hose below intercooler (important and expensive kit) 4. No prodrive sells the complete kit AFAIK 5. In my model year car wont start if u swap any old ECU as Immobiliser needs programming by Subaru dealer Also with PPP U get a catless exhaust centre section and a inox backbox. Disclaimer: All the above apply for MY99-MY00 PPP I think older PPPs got a panel filter as well. |
The MY95 does not have an engine imobiliser, so I don't think there are any problems there. However I have heard that the <MY97 PPPs must run on SUL rather than NUL otherwise power will be down from the std ECU. I don't know if this is true or not.
Has anyone had one of these fitted to their <MY96 car. What grade of fuel was specified? Cheers, Andy |
