It's not willpower Mike - it's called 'during a fuel crisis' - 315 miles on 50 litres = 28.6mpg

Chris

test 15 November 2000 04:15 PM

I've had about 320 running on SUL and going very very easy never going over 3000 rpm

JoeyDeacon 15 November 2000 04:16 PM

Last time I filled up I managed 270 miles on 45 litres of fuel. I think that works out to just over 27 MPG. This was about 80% motorway and 20% urban. I think 30 MPG is easily achievable if driving on the motorway at a constant 80MPH

If driving in town I am lucky to get 20MPG

Driving my Girlfriends Punto carefully around town I can manage 90 Miles on £10 of petrol!!

Robertio 15 November 2000 04:19 PM

I have a faint memory of seeing almost 24mpg when running the car in (one long journey), not seen near 20 since though.

Kevin2000 15 November 2000 04:32 PM

I have a my00 Impreza 1.6 and it consumes petrol as if it thinks its a turbo but has about the same power as a diesel.I get 230 miles from a full tank around town and I never push it above 3000rpm???

chiark 15 November 2000 04:33 PM

MY00 (Turbo, before you ask!), motorway driving at constant speed and empty country roads around the cotswolds = 295 miles off 45 litres.

I was stunned! The roads were empty, so there wasn't much extreme acceleration/deceleration going on...

555 Markus 15 November 2000 04:51 PM

I normally only get 17 -19 mpg in my turbo http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif but managed around 31 mpg during the fuel crisis. Had no fun though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

tizard99 15 November 2000 05:08 PM

My std 92WRX (except Exhaust and Dump-valve) gives aprox 200 miles from 30 quid and at 79.9 pence per litre thats:-

£3.63 per gallon
giving me SEE MY LATER POST..........

This is generally around town driving and mostly below 3500 rpm and 50 mph (even on bloody 70 mph speed limit A roads!)

Drove from Huntingdon, cambs to Cumbria. 230 miles on clock used 1/2 tank. Maths is useless tonite so can't tell you what that works out as.must be good though.

Beef 15 November 2000 06:33 PM

Heh - worst I've perpetrated was about 16mpg, and I got a similar figure during the fuel crisis.

Full tank of petrol, no need of car to get to work, and a long queue of miserable drivers waiting for a drop of fuel meant I couldn't resist blasting past each line at full throttle http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Ian Cook 15 November 2000 06:36 PM

350 miles (that was after the warning light came on as well) while having to use the space saver, and waiting for friendly tyres r us people to get a pair of S-02's in http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Average is 200 though !

TonyBurns 15 November 2000 06:39 PM

hmm must have been nearly 400 miles, but thats when i first got the car, sul from 7miles on the clock and still in running in period, northwest to winchester return, i was happy, shame about that now, get no where near as good http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif have too much fun!!

GaryC 15 November 2000 08:37 PM

Best ever was 39mpg during fuel crisis, car never saw the right side of 2000rpm. 50 on the M'way is no joke!!

Usually manage c28mpg during week, but mid-teens to low twenties at weekends. 9 mpg on track http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Managed 360 miles a couple of weeks back. I went from Ascot to Manchester and back down to somewhere near Birmingham before I had to refill.

Must admit the yellow light had been on for some time and I got caught between the M42 / M6 where there aren't any motorway service stations for miles and I was starting to get a little concerned. I wasn't hanging about either (until the light came on http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif) so I was quite impressed (almost up to the mpg I would expect from a 'normal' car).

My normal commute is mostly town driving and I reckon I average around 250 from a tank (normal unleaded).

Puff The Magic Wagon! 15 November 2000 09:38 PM

Mike

Haven't a clue, but probably 22-24 gallon on my 65 mile commute (based on the fact that I used to fill up every 2 days in the scoob & every 4 in the vectra & tank is same size).

What do you get out of a 500bhp cossie then?

Team Subaru 15 November 2000 09:40 PM

I have a 2.0 RX Sport, and last weekend, I got my best yet, 280 miles for the full Tank, I think it has a 50litre . This costed me £32 Irish @72.8 a litre.

Kevin2000,
What size tank is in the 1.6 ( 40l or 50l, I'm just shocked to find you only getting 230 miles, I know when I fitted all the extra to mine, the car got a lot heavier, The vents and the Rear spoiler really drag the car back, I was getting nearly 100 miles for the £10 before I had all the goodies fitted, but who cares, once your Baby looks good, you feel good..What a Team...

Just to wind the Brits up, what's the Punt/Pound conversion these days? When I was over in the summer, looking at 49p Stg per litre http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

sport special 15 November 2000 11:38 PM

I have a sport

1st tank 23.1 mpg
2nd tank 23.6 mpg
3rd tank 23.0 mpg

which is around 210 miles for 35 quid

PeterPerfect 15 November 2000 11:43 PM

Normally 220 miles from 50 litres (B roads).
Did see 300 cruising back from Goodwood this year though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Craig H 16 November 2000 12:08 AM

Mine hardly seemed to use a drop between July
and October for some reason.......

robski 16 November 2000 08:15 AM

Im in the high teens I think, but I darent work it out in case its lower.

I am stunned how people even manage mid 20s let alone high 20s, or even touching 30s!?!?

Even on the 300 mile trip to blackpool, I have to fill up, what do you guys do to get this economy, drive everywhere in 5th woth no boost!?

robski

p.s. Mike, I guess I should have seen this post coming!

Team Subaru 16 November 2000 08:34 AM

Puff the Magig Waggon,

£0.72.8 Pence Irish a litre would probally be around £0.55 Pence Sterling, now petrol over the border is £0.89 a litre, I can remember the days of people driving across the border to fill up, now its the other way around over here.. to tell the truth if the Petrol keeps going up, I getting a Bike for going in and out of work.
( Do Subaru make any Bikes. hehe ) How much a Litre is the Petrol across the water these days. When I was in the USA for the Summer, the lads over there were complaining when the petrol went up 2 cents. The Petrol is now $0.31 a litre.., no wonder they all drive 5.0 V8 Mustangs..

blubs 16 November 2000 08:43 AM

Mike,

Only had 30mpg once and nearly died of boredom doing it off a full tank to empty.

About 23-25 seems to be the average

blubs

ps Can we tempt you to the 'bigboy' roads in North Wales on the upcoming meet?
I'll give you an autographed picture of me if you come http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

tizard99 16 November 2000 08:48 AM

DOH! bloody brain (it was late!) recalculated my MPG and its about 24MPG (thats £30 gives me 200 miles, sound about right?)

Trev.

AndrewW 16 November 2000 11:58 AM

Had my MY99 5 door turbo + SS backbox for a week now.

Including a trip to Glencoe to attempt to replicate the feats of the tour d'Ecosse (oh, and to celebrate my wedding anniversary), I am easily managing 28 - 29 mpg.

Am I doing something wrong ?

I don't speed, but I don't drive like a granny, how hard do you guys actually drive, do you take it to the redline on every gear change ??

Andrew.

Kevin2000 16 November 2000 12:49 PM

YE Mr "Team Subaru" my car takes about £32 for a fill from empty. And the thing is,the last tank where i got 230 miles from it i was tryin to drive conservativly, like i didnt go above 3k.Normally it gets bout 260.Once on a bank holiday weekend when the roads where infested with police i got 379 miles from a tank. The world record for the 1.6 is 402 miles which isnt held by me unfortunately. Some of these nutters in england get more miles out of there turbos than i get from me 1.6
Going to have to hook it up to the computer at work to see if its running ok.I will let ye know.

Mo 16 November 2000 01:23 PM

94MY 5-dr UK turbo

260 from full tank on a trip to Edinburgh in the early hours of the morning, although I think I have a smaller tank than the newer models......170 miles per tank on average, bummer!

Zak.
