laptop mem upgrade prob - wont boot
 
Just got a 512mb stick for our laptop, when its installed it wont boot - switch no, black screen, no option to go to bios settings and have updated the bios
also, now ive taken it out and its booted ok the wifi wont detect the router

Any ideas?

The ram you bought isnt compatible probably. Or you seated it incorrectly.

Yea, as long as you installed it ok, its probably faulty then. You did take anti-static precautions yeh? ;)

does sound like it's running at a different speed or something - could be that your lappie will only take multiples of the same amount (ie 2 x 512).

Does it boot with only the new stick inserted?

have a look on the web for Orca memory - they've got a search thing that will tell you exactly what RAM you need.

Did you read his post? :) Its not running at all with his new RAM in, and he's already bought the specced RAM for his lappy.
