oh bugger, looks like thats the reason my mine still hasn't been chipped despite it being with the chip installer for 2 weeks.

there'll definitely be some place where we can get mod chips from, as the PS1 mochips were out for years and years and Sony didn't clamp down on that.

PS: Thought Messiah offered Region 1-6 DVD playback and Macrovision disabled ?

[Edited by DazV - 12/10/2001 9:32:26 PM]

NickAdams 12 November 2001 10:19 AM

Daz,
Messiah does not offer disabled macrovision and multi region. That mod will follow in a later release (Which if you're lucky enough to have a Messiah means that your current Messiah can be upgraded although it has to be sent back to CT!)
And that's assuming we get our hands on them in the first place!

Nick..

P.S: Have a look here

DazV 11 December 2001 01:13 PM

Nick, I mention the DVD region free as a lot of mod sites mention this.

Wonder if it was in the oroginal specs for messiah and then they dropped it later in developement to get the chip out the door sooner ?

Anyway, my NEO4 install has fallen through so I'm looking for a Messiah if you can help.

NickAdams 11 December 2001 02:35 PM

I wish I could help Daz!
I too am in limbo at the moment.I ordered 3 Messiahs from CT's website last wednesday (Release date) and put them on my visa. Not checked yet whether they have taken the money but ain't lookin good for gettin em this side of christmas (Or at all if Sony get their way!!!!)
I will do some searching on the web and let you know if I find anything out for you.........

Cheers m8,

Nick..

PS: Worth having a look here seeing as Messiah-World forums have closed down.

DazV 11 December 2001 05:21 PM

DazV 12 December 2001 01:32 AM

Look like D-Day for Messiah is the 17th - thats when the next court case ruling will be made *allegedly*

Nick, send me your Messiah - you KNOW you want to.

-DV

NickAdams 12 December 2001 12:25 PM

Daz,
I ain't got em yet mate!
I phoned the credit card company last night and they told me CT had applied for the funds but had not taken the money.Personally,I really don't think I'll get the chips but the word on the web is that the Messiah will still appear under different names though!
Let's hope so anyway! :D :D :D :D

Cheers,

Nick..

DazV 12 December 2001 12:35 PM

Nick,

There's ways and means around the problem, regardless of how big Sony are. There's a ton a companys in the far east that would pay big money for the blueprint I imagine.

Messiah will be back in one guise or another, but I don't want to wait til next year!

NickAdams 12 December 2001 05:08 PM

Daz,
Same here mate!
I may go for a Neo 2.2 in the interim (With either AR2 or FM radio) to boot games.I've read something that mentions you can boot DVDRs with an AR2 and NO modchip........
Interested? ;)

Cheers m8,

Nick..

Shaun 12 December 2001 05:11 PM

Looks like I will have to stick with my NEO 2!!!!! As if I care................I never play the doorstop anyway nowadays!!!!!

DazV 12 December 2001 05:18 PM

Like Shaun, I'll stick with my NEO2 for now.

Shaun - we can't all have X-Boxes and GameCubes like you, you know!

Besides, I've got Metal Gear Solid 2 and GTA3, oh and ShenMue2 waiting for me on Christmas day!

Then, I'll get a GameCube when Zelda & Mario comes out.

CELL 14 December 2001 11:45 AM

For those struggling to get neo 4 chips installed look here http://chipinstallation.com/default....stall&lang=eng

scooby nutter 14 December 2001 06:42 PM

Found a site selling messiah modchips(still)
www.techtrix.co.uk £65.
They say they have them in stock although this is just for the chip alone(no installation's cos their too busy)
Find a installler on the site CELL mentioned.most installers do neo's and messiah.

DazV 14 December 2001 10:12 PM

Nick,

I've got a US SCPH 3001 PS2 from the US. I use the NTSC equivalent of Action Replay, called GameShark.

Works fine, although having to use the bootdisk everytime you play a CDR is a pain.

Works on everything including EA games, which requre a slightly different boot method.

The signal timing is the only gripe with the NEO2 - sometimes it gets it right and boots the game, others it fails to load. I'd say a 25% failure rate.

wah 14 December 2001 11:42 PM

Nick I have mailed you the details

DazV 15 December 2001 12:03 AM

wah, email me.

wah 15 December 2001 12:06 AM

DazV 15 December 2001 12:09 PM

wah,

just email me, its always nice to get something in my inbox.

seriously though, thought you knew of a place to buy neo4s from US?

scooby nutter 15 December 2001 01:22 PM

Daz, try www.all-forums.com
In the private sale section neo4's £45.
not looked myself(got to the page and had to register, couldnt be ar*e£!) mentioned on a few modchip forums.
worth a look.

Also for those who want the messiah i've found this guy that can fit a messiah "type" chip for £85!

have a look at www.btinternet.com/~carl.bulger/index.html

NickAdams 17 December 2001 10:13 AM

Thanks for the info Daz.I'm gonna get a Neo 2.2 installed in mine this week I think.I've heard good reviews about the Xtreme FM radio device and that it's better than the AR2.Trouble is,I can't find the damn things for sale!
Failing that,AR2 v2 is readily available from the usual shops in the high street...........

Also, one final thing,I emailed that guy that scoobynutter mentions in his post above. Will let you know if I hear back from him!

Cheers,

Nick..

NickAdams 17 December 2001 12:23 PM

News just in........
I've found a website that claims to be selling "Bootmaster" chips. On closer inspection they are actually the Messiah chips being sold under another name.
It would appear that all is not lost (Yet! :D )

I also heard it's the court case for Channel Tech today,17th dec!

Interestin to see how they get on? :D :D :D

Cheers,

Nick..

DazV 17 December 2001 07:35 PM

Think I'll get a NEO4 instead of a Messiah now.

I'd assumed Messiah did Region Free DVD, but apparently this will only be supported in future revisions.

I can live with NEO4 not booting DVD-Rs directly (you have to 1st boot from an original DVD game with a big TOC)

Will have a look at those links mentioned about buying a NEO4.
