New Laptop Required
 

Hi,

After my appentice blew my laptop up today, I am now in need of a new one.

Requirements:-

1. Must have a Serial port!!!!! Rare now I know
2. Light Weight
3. Good Battery Life
4. Robust as it gets taken onto building sites etc.
5. Doesn't need to be overly powerful, although the ability to run Offive 2007 would be good.
6. Cheapish - Budget £500-700

Anybody know more about laptop than me and can adivise,

you can get serial port to USB adapters if you can't find one with it. They are cheap.
How did your old one "blow up"?

The lad touched a 240v cable onto a control panel that the serial port was plugged into... I think the screen was earthed and so sent 240volts into the laptop, which is now fried!!!!

I am going to but a serial / USB adapter anyway to try with my other laptop, but the less cables / adapters the better in my mind!
