AVCR and Dawes in parallel?

I know that this is possible and how to plumb it in.

I just want better spool than I can get form the AVCR in the lower gears. I still cant get anything above 1.2 bar in first and second gears.

I should be running 1.3 bar tailing off to 1.25 which works fine. So rather than having alot of overshoot in first and second, which happens when I ramp up the start duty (hitting 1.4), I was thinking about the dawes in parallel set to 1.3.

I can then ramp up the start duty with no ill effects. This will still allow the avcr to control boost below this.

Thoughts please.

yes that will work but you should be able to get the AVC-R to do this with enough patience and set up..

Simon,

Thanks for that mate.

I seem to be spiking or overshooting to 1.35 bar. Is the 0.05 an issue?

I'm not seeing any increase in knock from the commander or Knocklink.

Thats my only concern really.

0.05 bar is 2% overboost, it's less than 1 psi in old money. I wouldn't worry at all about it. However, as Simon suggests, your AVCR setup can probably be improved, and depending on your turbo it's not necessarily realistic to expect full boost in 1st gear from a roll or conventional launch.

I've just reread your original post. You initial say you can't get over 1.2 bar in 1st or second, then you say you can get 1.4 bar. What exactly is it doing that you don't like?

Paul,

I can either get it to give 1.2 in first/second (start duty at 10/8) and then it goes to 1.4 (start duty at 11/9). Its a small adjustment but I can't get it stable.

You can't get it stable, or consistant? You realise that the boost level will change from run to run until the turbo is up to temperature. I would also wonder if the rest of the AVC-R is properly set up.

Paul,

You are probably right. It just seems simpler/lazier to use the dawes as well.
