video clips. uploading, editing....some questions

just bought a new camera which has a recording option for vids, been playing around with it and have a couple of questions about getting them up on here.

i use photobucket and they do a video upload feature but it has a 100mb max upload (think this'll be about 1 1/2 mins worth?) in general i think this'll be fine, but could i compress the file then upload it? would it work ok or would it need unzipping each time someone views it or would photobucket do this automatically?

now i've just panned around the car and wanted to post it up as a test but my no. plate is visible, is there a free programme out there that allows limited (or full) editing of vids so i can block it out? if i get interested in it i might want to put music on it or stuff like that, is this possible with free stuff?

very green to all of this (as you may have guessed!;))so any basic pointers would be much appreciated.

ta:)

Free good video editing in a word... NO

the best you'll get for free is windows own software !

As for compression, just use the windows software to reduce its size, you cant upload a compressed video to a video hosting as the file extention will be wrong

Sony vegas is quite nice if you can get your hands on it.

Can also use video mach for basic editing & compressing clips into different codecs which can be obtained for free.

Just opens up the seperate window as it does when uploading videos, green upload bar scrolls across a few times. Then the page shuts down. Sorry for the crap explanation, but my computer literacy is not very good.

i would guess that if you want it private then don't upload it to anywhere. mind you, why upload it at all if you want it kept private?

not sure what you want to do with the clip but email it to individuals if you want to exclusively share it, just be carefull who you send it to!
