bottom end knock
 
hi there
i have suspected bottom end bearing gone on my 99 impreza 37k miles:( just wondering if its a common fault on uk cars and what kindda money im i looking at to repair
also any other options i may have if needs a ebuild ie better pistons 2.3l conversion what would u lot reconmend?

Its more common on import cars set to run on 100ron fuel but turbo scoobs in general do seem to suffer failures.

Are you sure its bottom end? 98-99 cars suffer from piston slap, could be that, its much less serious. Does the noise get louder with a hot engine?

A decent rebuild would be £2.5k ish. Depends how far you want to go..

If you rev it to say 3000 and let of do you hear a deep rumble sound as engine revs drop ? is it when hot or cold is it a tinking type sound
or a guda guda guda deep tone sorry best way i could describe sound

cheers fro ur advice lads will pop to mates garage 2morrow and have a listen let u know whats going on i did have a lot of oil in my intercooler so could be fuel been weak and cased det??
any more ideas advise wis welcom
