Wind deflectors off, sticky stuff not budging!

I didnt mind having them grey wind deflector thingies on the edge of both sides of my roofline .........until....

Parked up in the local shopping center I came back to my car and saw that an omega was parked so close to the drivers side that strech armstrong would've found it difficult to get in.:freak3:

Anyway, had to get in and go and in the process of squeezing in i broke/cracked/shattered the driver side wind deflector thingy.

Thay both had to go.......

Now im left with the sticky adhesive stuff on both sides

What is the best way to remove the sticky adhesive without damaging the paint underneath?

I'd say use a hot air gun on a low setting (or hair dryer) and easy off most of it. The last remaining little bits that refuse to come off you can use brake cleaner (or white spirit) and your finger nail with a thin bit of cloth round it, but be careful as the nail on one angel will remove those stubbern little bits with ease, but at another angel will scratch the paint work even thru the cloth.

I've taken off enuf stickers and badges and all manner of other things with that adhesive and the key is patience and care! :thumb:

Cheers all you guys, all done now!

I used a mixture of white spirits and petrol, a rubberised cake spatula (dont ask, it was the only non-scratch blade I could find!) and a few millimeters of skin off of both my thumbs.
