Still not 100% sure which is the best method so I'd see what most people thought...

Purchase a car brand new. Lose money through depreciation over 3 years.

Or

Purchase a car that's lost most of its depreciation and lose money through maintenance and repairs.

eg. Renault Megane R26 which can be bought for £14, 800
Lose approx £2000 a year but have no repair bills

eg. BMW E34 M5 which can be bought for £6000
Lose nothing in depreciation but cost at least £2000 a year in repair bills

lifes to short if you want it and can afford it buy it
