I have seen a few posts looking for Denso spark plugs over the last few weeks. Just so that you dont have to search for them, Denso also re-badge their products as HKS. So give BRD a call and get some of the HKS plugs.

Thanks Dan, I did find the equivallent Denso for the WRX (MY00).
According to Denso comparison charts, the IK20 is the heat range comparison for the original PFR6B NGK plugs. The IK 22 being a colder plug would be prefered if any upgrades in boost etc are being sought.
Please excuse my ignorance since I am new to this board and live in Trinidad, but who is BRD and what is his number or web site address.

RaymondH 11 December 2001 12:14 PM

Hi lizzard.

The address you want is www.brdevelopments.com

lizzard 12 December 2001 12:51 AM

Thanks Dan . 17.04 pounds per plug sounds a bit high. I can get them in the U.S for around U.S $13.00 I'll keep looking.
Unfortunately the MY00 is not sold in the U.S.A only the MY02.
For me it is easier and usually cheaper to get things out of the States rather than the U.K due to the Currency Conversion. However the Denso IK22 are easily available in the States

Colin @ MSW 12 December 2001 02:18 AM

Hey Lizzard

The price I quoted you still sounds reasonable - £13.08 each plus vat. However if we can raise enough interest I can get the price down to £6.80+VAT.

Hi Colin,

The latter price sounds pretty good, I'd be keen to get some for my STi v3.

How many interested parties do we need to bring the price down?

Dave

Colin @ MSW 14 December 2001 01:04 PM

We need to gather interest for 5 sets.

Do you think there is a lot of interest in these plugs?

Colin

DARREN 14 December 2001 01:18 PM

I'd like a set for my STi V2 please,so thats 3 or 4 of us isnt it???

Cheers
Darren

Colin @ MSW 14 December 2001 01:33 PM

Yep

3 so far :

Dave, Darren, Lizzard

Might get a set for my own.

I'm new to these plugs to be honest. What benefits do they bring?

And how do I get the smiley faces working?

Colin

lizzard 14 December 2001 02:06 PM

I just did it the old fashioned way, a "colon " followwed by a "losed bracket" :)
Check out the U.S bbs for the Subaru MY02 www.impreza-rs.com and do a saarch for the Denso Plugs or others. A very informative site for the WRX MY02

lizzard 14 December 2001 02:08 PM

That should read "Closed Bracket" :) ...can't spell !! Sorry

gadge 15 December 2001 12:40 AM

dela 17 December 2001 05:02 PM

Hi Colin,

With the addition of Gary and yourself, do we have enough people to get this moving?

Dave

Colin @ MSW 17 December 2001 05:54 PM

Yes we do.

Slight delay because I had to change my supplier - the importer I was getting these from told me on Thursday that they couldn't supply Denso any more!

So price for a set of 4 plugs is £31.96 inc vat. Delivery = £5.00 each set, so that's £36.96 in total.

I may be working tonight 8-10pm (if I get the brakes on my Scooby fixed first) or you can get me tomorrow 9am-6pm.

Colin
Who told you that the PK20PR-P8 is the replacement? The IK20 and IK22 are for the TURBO IMPREZA MY00 according to the Maintainance manual . Just check the Denso /Ngk comparison chart that I sent to you .

http://www.iridiumpower.com/crossreference.asp?plugmaker_id=2&action.x=6&actio n.y=10

You will see the ORIGINAL SUBARU IMPREZA Plugs (NGK PFR6B) are the same as the IK20 heat range .The PK20PR-P8 is a plug that I have never seen since DENSO seem to use "I" as the first prefix in all of their NGK / DENSO comparison. I would love some more info since I may not have all the facts, but from what I can see from the Denso site I cant quite understand the PK20PR-P8

lizzard 19 December 2001 11:33 PM

Colin my Mail Server is down! :(
Are you not able to get the DENSO plugs any more? Are the PK20PR-P8 an IRIDUM plug and how does it compare to the DENSO IK 22?

lizzard 19 December 2001 11:41 PM

Colin check out this link

http://www.denso.co.jp/PLUG/data/other/ngk/08.html

We really ned to get one heat range colder than the PK20PR-P8 if you are going to be doing any up grades to boost E.G MBC / Dawes device. It does seem that this is the EXACT replacement for the PFR6B. What is the comparison for the IK22

Colin @ MSW 19 December 2001 11:43 PM

It was the 3 UK importers of Denso that told me that the PK20PR-P8 was the plug for the Impreza turbo. It is indeed the recommended plug in the Denso manual. Further enquiries have found that the HKS S35i is 'extremely' similar to the IK20 but even further enquiries have found that none of the 3 UK Denso importers know much, if anything, about the IK20 and do not stock it....

Meanwhile I have purchased 20 expensive plugs that I don't know quite what to do with unless some other owners fancy more standard platinum plugs! Ok, I'm a mug, but 3 of you wanted them before Christmas. My mistake.

(Out of pocket) SadScoobyCol :(

DARREN 19 December 2001 11:55 PM

Colin................So what plugs have you for us!!!!!!

Darren

lizzard 20 December 2001 12:02 AM

Me again PK20PR-8

PK is for PLATINUM TIP
20 is the HEAT RANGE
P is a projected insulator nose
R is a Resistor type plug
8 is the plug gap in "mm"

http://www.iridiumpower.com/identifyplugs.htm#w

Therefore the PK20PR-8 is a PLATINUM not IRIDUM plug

Colin @ MSW 20 December 2001 12:15 AM

Darren

I have ordered the PK20PR-P8 because that is what the importers told me was all that was available for the Scooby. Being new to this part of the market it sounded like these must therefore be the iridium plugs that you guys were talking about. Turns out these are the NGK platinum replacements.

I had 2 promises of IK20 prices which never materialised today.....guess there's a supply problem to the UK...

StillSadScoobyCol :(

Pieman 20 December 2001 11:37 AM

Probably a silly question but...

What's the advantage of Iridium Plugs over Platinum ones?
And if they do increase power, how much bhp could realistically be gained in a Scoob?

lizzard 20 December 2001 11:17 PM

Hello Pieman
If you do a search for "Denso Plugs" on the U.S Scooby BBS
www.impreza-rs.com you will find lots of info about the DENSO IK22 iridium plugs. Denso themselves have the usual hype on their web site but there are lots of good things said by the consumers about the plugs on the US BBS. A BI*CH to change but apparently well worth it!!:)

lizzard 20 December 2001 11:42 PM

Hi Colin:)
All may not be lost. The PK20PR-8 is made by DENSO. It is not an IRIDIUM plug but a PLATINIUM plug. The HKS-S35I is made for HKS by DENSO. These are used in the STI IMPREZA as a performance replacement. See links below:

http://dyno.scoobynet.co.uk/jap/bob_rawle2.htm

http://www.denso.co.jp/PLUG/data/other/hks/01.html

The HKS-S35I is the exact replacement for the DENSO IK 22 :)
It is also a Platinium plug. Have you already got the PK20PR-8 plugs or can you get the HKS-S35I?
