Prodrive Open Day

Access all areas

For the second year running, Prodrive is opening its doors to motorsport fans on July 14 and 15 to raise money for the Oxford Children’s Hospital. This year, Prodrive is aiming to make it even bigger and better than 2006 and, like last year, expect it to be a sell out.

Fans will be able to see where the company designs and builds the Subaru World Rally Cars (WRC) as well as the Aston Martin DBR9 sports cars. All the workshops will be open so that visitors can see how the WRC engines, gearboxes and electrical systems are made; how the Aston Martin DBR9 and Subaru WRCs are finally assembled; and how the hundreds of complex parts for each car are manufactured.

There will be a display by the Aston Martin Racing Team, which will have just return from the Le Mans, and once again, the Subaru World Rally Team will be setting up its service park in the grounds as it does on the World Rally Championship. The team will also be doing regular demonstrations to show how it services Petter Solberg’s WRC.

Race and rally cars from Prodrive’s 20 years in motorsport will be on display, including Colin McRae’s and Richard Burns’ Imprezas, a 1980s Porsche 911 and MG 6R4 group B rally cars; James Thompson’s 1998 Honda Accord Super Touring Car; Alain Menu’s BTCC-winning Ford Mondeo and Jenson Button’s 2004 F1 car. The Prodrive P2 road will also be fired up and there will be a range of other road cars that Prodrive is currently working on.

There will be food and entertainment for all ages.

There is a limited number of tickets for each day and last year tickets sold out early. The price is £12 for adults and £6 for children 16 and under (under 5s are free). Tickets can be purchased by visiting prodrive and clicking on the ‘open day’ link. All the proceeds are going to the Oxford Children’s Hospital appeal.
