Done a search but cant find what I am after.

It wont be long now until the front Michelin Pilot HX tyres need replacing.

Is it worth just changing the front pair as the cars previous owner used to have all 4 changed together.

If so I am thinking of sticking the goodyear f1 boots on it. Are these generally regarded as better than the michelins.

Nikko, the Goodyear F1s are highly rated, but we don't hear much about the Michelins on here. However, it's not a good idea to mix tyres as it upsets the handling balance. There have been quite a few reports of this doing weird things, and also of the transformation that a good set of rubber makes.

I'm on my third set and by moving them around every 5,000 miles or so they all wear out around the same time. I replace them when down to 3mm, and then use them for track days.

I'm no expert but the tyres that are consistently highly rated on here are Goodyear F1s, Toyo Proxis and Bridgestone SO-2s (now discontinued and the S0-3 is not nearly so good). In fact, I've just asked Tyres Northampton to reserve me their last set of S0-2s for fitting in January (thanks, Mark :) )

Richard.

I've just been down to Jim Jeffrey in Stockton Heath - He's still recommending the RE010s (original equipment), or SO2/3s.

The prices he gave per corner for a set of 4 were:

B'stone RE010 £110.45
B'stone SO2/3 £117.50
TOYO Proxy £ 90.47
G'year F1 £ 98.78
Yoko AVSSport £ 98.70

The Toyos or F1s look the best value to me

Steve
