TopGear tonight (another poo one for real car enthusiasts)

This week they go all rural as they harness a group of high-tech tractors and attempt to grow their own petrol. Meanwhile, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 dances with the devil on the test track and Kristin Scott-Thomas is the star in a reasonably priced car.
Just one car but loads more cockin about. They need to show more cars. They should scrap star in a reasonably priced car.

scooby_matt 25 February 2007 07:22 PM

For once, I agree with you

wrx_yank 25 February 2007 07:23 PM

what time is it on?

AudiLover 25 February 2007 07:24 PM

8pm, GMT

madras 25 February 2007 07:26 PM

I think something "interesting" happens to the LP640 when driven by the Stig. ;)

madras

wrx_yank 25 February 2007 07:27 PM

sweet thanks...

SwissTony 25 February 2007 07:32 PM

at least they can do the cool wall with Kristin Scott-Thomas and see if she likes any of he cars :D

Petem95 25 February 2007 07:35 PM

Its an hour long show - do you really want them to rabbit on about rear leg room in the latest batch of superminis or do you want some car-related entertainment? I'll have the latter.

MSM 25 February 2007 07:38 PM

it seems like the presenters have become the stars of the show not the cars.

skoobidude 25 February 2007 07:41 PM

I agree with AL. Not enough cars, too much fookin about these days. It's all a set up anyway so I don't find it that funny.

Nick

PS - still waiting to see the 997 Turbo on the track

theres always 5th gear

Prasius 25 February 2007 08:21 PM

Don't like it - Don't watch it. :)

I think its great and always a laugh personally.

We'll have a thread next complaining that Evo doesn't review the latest 1.1 Econo-box.

nisr227 25 February 2007 08:36 PM

Record the full hour, then watch back once finished with fast forward, that way you can watch the decent bit in about........10 minutes normally.

There really is too much C**king about in it these days, it might be entertaining for some, but as the top-gear of cars programs it way off the mark, better than 5th gear, vroom and others, but still piss poor. If Evo Mag can fill loads of pages a month of decnt cars and driving, then Top gear should be able to squeeze a lot of it in each week, they don't, miles off.

OK, here's the best 10 mins bit, Lp640..

vallumlj 25 February 2007 08:37 PM

i agree if you dont like it dont watch it. Have you waited all day just to watch ten mins of it then log on to car forum to have a go. How much of a geek do u sound mate.

bob r 25 February 2007 08:47 PM

Nice comparison with the Lambo Murcielago and the Golf GTI :lol1:

Who remembers when Clarkson did exactly the same comparison with a Diablo and mk 2 Golf GTI 16v many moons ago?

Rather than the Golf, a fast car should have been used, something like a Subar Impreza.;)

Geek?..no.."Driver's car" enthusiast?..yes. Look 'mate' I haven't waited 'all day' to log on, my pc's always on, I usually enjoy top gear, but more and more of the series is now becoming a waste of time.......fooking tractors and farming for fook sake!!.....buying bangers in America (whole hour)......re surfacing a road in 24hours etc. etc..

Its on in the background for the odd 10mins of decent cars stuff. Just adding my opinion, which is what loggin onto forums is all about, a on a topic that people have already raised on here. ;)

I too can't believe they didn't time the 997T last week, no mention of why not either. Maybe it was wet and it will be tested at a later date.

KIPS 25 February 2007 09:01 PM

THREE SCOOBIES SPOTTED ON TOP GEAR WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT :D :D

skywalker23 25 February 2007 09:10 PM

Moan when it's on,moan when it's not....:wonder: :thumb: :D

Bubba po 25 February 2007 09:11 PM

It wasn't very good tonight. :(

StickyMicky 25 February 2007 09:13 PM

complete ****e IMO

AudiLover 25 February 2007 09:13 PM

Dont get it wrong you emotional little kids, who seem to have taken offence and told me not to watch it if I dont like it, I DO STILL LIKE TOPGEAR. I just dont like it as much as I used to when they had 3-4 different cars on the show ;)

Exactly. Totally agree.

wrx-ian 25 February 2007 09:15 PM

The show is really a motoring based show now rather than a car review show.
Guess it appeals with to larger audience that way.
in my opinion a really good show:luxhello:

skoobidude 25 February 2007 09:16 PM

Evo Mag to make a TV programme please! :D

bootsy 25 February 2007 09:16 PM

OK, here's the best 10 mins bit, Lp640..

Think about what you're saying for a minute.

I ( aged 41 ) watch Top Gear, my wife ( 39 ) watches TG, my 7 year old daughter watches TG. My mum ( 75 ) watches TG. My staff, x 8, ages between 23 and 57, all watch TG. We all watch it for different reasons, but we all watch it for one reason as well. Because its good entertainment. :notworthy

I buy Evo. No-one else mentioned above read Evo. If you really think Evo on TV would be more popular ( which is what its all about ) than TG, then give Harry Metcalfe a ring. You wont, because you know what the answer would be.

Do you really think that Hammond saying,

" THe 6.2L V12 in the old Murcie was a bit harsh toward the top end, but the new 6.5L V12 has an epic soundtrack all the way to 8000rpm" :Whatever_

would get more viewers than Clarkson dynamiting a field? :luxhello:

AudiLover 25 February 2007 09:24 PM

Sell outs. I think viewing numbers will eventually dip as petrol heads get tired of the bull and im sure eventually people will get tired of their stunts also. Its all starting to get a bit predictable.

Dream Weaver 25 February 2007 09:26 PM

As a car show its rubbish, but it is normally very funny as an hours comedy.

However, tonight it was just boring rubbish :(

Vroom Vroom is better on Sky 3

RUDDY 25 February 2007 09:29 PM

in all fairness whats the point in watching reviews of cars that cost huge amounts of money to take them seriously! not many can afford them brand new, and when we can afford them there will be owners clubs and plenty of reviews much better than clarksons to read! you wouldnt watch a jenna jameson programme talking of her personality and how she would make your perfect partner would you? bet you would watch her on her back though getting some action!! lol!
same thing with top gear! get a few exotic cars sideways and have a laugh! its good entertainment!
evan if you were going to buy a car featured on top gear! would you really listen to a word clarkson says anyway?? NO you would go and drive one your self. why have the presenters became stars?? cause their entertaining, and they entertain everyone! not just the anarak sort who want to talk engines and handling in every converation! there are programes that do talk about cars a lot! however there the programmes that would never make the bbc in prime time tv! top gear does very well imho with all the anti anything ways of the world these days!

RUDDY 25 February 2007 09:32 PM

flightman you have really hit the nail on the head there! all my family and all my staff also love top gear!
