Usally they mean "LOOK OUT YOUR GOING TO HIT SOMETHING"......Or a indication of a tight bend. Its in the highway code but its to early to be sifting through it lol.

These are to **** up the cyclists who use the white lines as a guide for the kerb. Suddenly its an obstacle course like when you were a kid again.

Either that, its the council trying to use up all that extra paint before they set up their new yearly budget.
