Creaking noise from rear

Hey, looking for some advice from people who know a bit more about Subaru's than I do ........

I've not had my 2003 Sti for long, but when pulling away at slow speeds there is alot of creaking noises coming from the rear end, also noticed when slowing down to stop it creaks again, the creak goes from one side to the other, as if creating a slight wobble, when driving its fine, just happens at very low speeds. Someone mentioned it could be a tight diff?

Its booked into the garage where I bought it but they'r not a Subaru dealer so I'd like a rough idea before taking it in, they can then send it to the nearest Subaru garage rather than pulling it apart themselves.

Can anyone relate to this problem?

cheers

Might be the struts failing, they're pretty notorious. Do a search and you'll see plenty of people reporting creaking noises because of the struts. Mind you, it might just be the anti-roll bar bushes need a bit of grease. Best bet's to take it to a garage that knows what they're dealing with to be honest. I take it you want to take it back to the original dealer because it's under warranty? In which case, probably the best you'll get is giving them first dibs at it, and if and when they fail to fix it, insist on it going to subaru specialist at their expense.

For what it's worth, I'd probably look for an independent specialist like Powerstation (http://www.powerstation.org.uk/) rather than a main dealer, most of the main dealers know nothing about the performance models and are quite likely to fob you off. Of course, you might find a main dealer that also specialises in performance models, for example Crossroads (http://www.crsubaru.co.uk/cms/en-gb/index.htm)

Couldn't see your location when I was composing my reply; looking back, I see my links were pretty useless to you! Sorry about that

Could be something simple i would think.
The roll bar bushes/all bushes first thing. Spray the rear bushes systematically with WD40 till the creaking goes away.
A good specialist up noth (Co Durham) is Alyn at AS Performance - Rally Motorsport Specialists

The noises associated with the rear struts is a very hard crack/twang odf the spring re-seating itself, and is usually the NSR corner.

Hope this helps you.
